The Bird's Nest on Campus

author:Yang wandering in Beijing

There are three bird nests on the North Campus campus: one on a tall plane tree in the center of the campus, one on a poplar tree next to the west floor of the complex, and one on a tall tree next to the west gate on the south side.

Bird nests in sycamore trees have existed for years. I remember that around 15 years it was there, it was the home of a pair of flower magpies. At that time, the plane trees were not very tall, and in the autumn and winter, the empty playground blew a cold wind, and the plane trees that had lost their yellow leaves swayed in the wind, looking thin and desolate. Flower magpies bounce between the branches and make a few clear cries from time to time. Their nests tremble with the cold wind, making people wonder: Will the nest fall? Will the birds and finches freeze at night in such a simple nest?

Spring has arrived, and the flower magpies who have survived the harsh winter are even more cheerful, and they fly up and down the trees in the morning, or make a crisp chirp. Watching the crowds coming and going under the trees. When people are young, they will fly slowly to the ground, walk up a few steps in a calm manner, and suddenly flapp their wings and go away. Living here for a long time, the flower magpie seems to have long trusted humans and is accustomed to the lively home here.

In fact, the bird and the bird in the flower magpie are relatively relatively relatively bird like the swallow, although it still maintains a certain distance from humans. But it means auspicious and beautiful, is the "bird of annunciation". "Look up to see the joy, like the top of the eyebrows" and so on show that it is deeply loved by people.

In the spring when "no rain and flowers are falling, no wind and flying by yourself", the campus is full of these birds. However, I don't like to hear the cries of the old birds around me, which makes people panic. There are too many old birds in Beijing, and the cries are too poignant.

For a while, I used to live upstairs in an apartment, and not far from the window were these plane trees. Standing on the balcony and looking up, you can see this bird's nest. At that time, I really felt as warm as the bird's nests in front of the house and behind the house when I was a child, and I really felt like a neighbor!

Nearly a decade has passed, and these plane trees on campus have long since grown taller and thicker, like green umbrellas shading the center of the campus. The four seasons change, the leaves of the plane tree are green and yellow, yellow and green, I don't know if the flower magpie on the tree is not the original one?

Once closer to us was the bird's nest on the west side of the complex. Open the window on the third floor and the bird's nest is right next to the poplar tree. When we were working there in '18, two flower magpies were always there. After the arrival of spring, the chirping of birds outside the window on the third floor is constantly heard. Looking out, the emerald green new leaves often see the figure of flower magpies busy building nests. In the midst of the world, the situation in which these weak and small beings strive to live is often ashamed.

The sun is shining and the birds are singing, and the flowers in the room are in full bloom, making people feel refreshed. Spring always brings more beauty and hope!

"The nest grows up and spends the new year together." The beautiful scenery inside and outside the windows in the spring of 2018 is still vividly remembered.

The Bird's Nest on Campus

The bird's nest on the tall tree in the southwest corner of the campus is definitely a sun room, and it is the kind that is transparent from north to south. Birds place their homes on tall branches, and they can look down on the traffic on the East Gate Road of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences every day! During the harvest season, the experimental field in the north will also provide them with a lot of food, right?

Two days after lunch, I walked there again, and saw that on the branches where the leaves were falling, the black bird's nest really had the feeling of ink freehand painting. Although it is simple and rugged, it has a deep artistic conception in winter.

The beauty of the campus may be much more than that, but somehow, I especially like these bird nests. The scenery flows throughout the year, but they become the most unique ones in my eyes. Birds live in harmony with people, sharing the gifts of rain and sunshine. The beauty of nature, it should be so!
