This winter, from south to north, from east to west, the major springs in Jinan, which stretch for more than 100 kilometers, have reached the best level in decades, and the major spring scenic spots have attracted tourists to enjoy the magnificent beauty of "Thousand Springs Competition".
The spring water clangs, and the mountains of a city are beautiful. Jinan leans on Mount Tai in the south and the Yellow River in the north, and is known as "spring water in the world". According to the newly released "List of Famous Springs in Jinan" released in September 2021, the total number of famous springs in the city has reached 950, and there are countless other small springs scattered among the people, which can be called "the city of a thousand springs".
In 2021, the groundwater level of Baotu Spring reached 30.18 meters, the highest record since 1966. Tian Xiaodong, director of the Spring Water Heritage Division of the Jinan Municipal Urban and Rural Water Affairs Bureau, said that the scenery of "Thousand Springs Competing for Spraying" not only has the factor of "heaven helping" but also the result of "human efforts". In recent years, Jinan has adhered to green development, always adhered to the principle of "giving priority to springs" in urban construction and development, and made every effort to protect the soul of spring water by increasing ecological restoration and engineering governance.
Engineering governance "precision water replenishment". In recent years, Jinan has comprehensively treated the water systems of Jinxiu river, Jinyang River, Jinyun River and its 12 important tributary rivers, and at the same time carried out ecological treatment of the Xingji River, Yufu River and other rivers to improve the groundwater leakage capacity; and continued to improve the overall water ecological environment of the spring water recharge area through the connection of the five reservoirs in the southern part of the city and the runoff control method of "blocking, intercepting, culverting, storage and infiltration".

As a traffic congestion city, Jinan first proposed to build rail transit in 1988, and it was not until 2019 that the first subway was opened in the western part of the city. In the key sections around the spring sensitive area, Jinan ensures that the spring water is "feasible" around the subway line through measures such as "detour, avoidance, and lifting"; the line adjacent to the spring water sensitive area adopts the shallow burial method, controls the structure burial depth, and "raises up" for the spring. At present, the three subway stations that have been opened in Jinan are equipped with 1-2 monitoring wells to monitor the water level in real time. Monitoring showed that the groundwater level along the route was consistent with the surrounding area.

The 2021 Jinan Municipal People's Government Work Report listed the citizens' spring water direct drinking project as one of the 22 practical things for the people, and completed 15 spring water direct drinking projects, benefiting about 60,000 citizens, and it is expected that by the end of the "14th Five-Year Plan" there will be millions of citizens "drinking spring water at home". Wei Hongjun, chairman of Jinan Water Affairs Group, said that Jinan has built more than 100 direct drinking points for spring water in the central urban area to achieve "first look at and then use" spring water.
Strolling along the banks of the Jinan Moat in winter, the two banks are still weeping willows, the vegetation is staggered, and the wetland landscape accompanied by the boardwalk and the water pavilion is beautiful and moving; walking in Qushuiting Street, the spring water is babbling next to it, and the chic small shops in the old streets and alleys are arranged one by one, creating an ecology, an elegance and a tranquility for citizens and tourists in the bustling city.
