Madrid, January 18 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid Club in La Liga confirmed on the 18th that the club legend Paco Hento died at the age of 88.
As a famous member of the team, Hento was the honorary president of Real Madrid from 2015 until his death. Hento was born in Cantabria, northern Spain. In February 1953, at the age of 19, he made his La Liga debut for Atlético Santander. He joined Real Madrid that same year and spent 18 seasons with the club before hanging up his boots in 1971. During his time at Real Madrid, he made 600 appearances for the club, scored 182 goals, and won many honors including 6 European Champions Club Cup (the predecessor of the UEFA Champions League) and 12 La Liga trophies. He is also the only player in football history who has lifted the Champions League trophy six times so far.
Hunto's coffin will be parked at the Bernabeu from the evening of the 18th to noon on the 19th to receive mourning. Real Madrid have announced that fans can travel to the Bernabeu to bid farewell to their honorary president.
