Guangzhou, January 19 (Xinhua) -- On January 19, an 80,000-ton semi-submersible vessel built by China State Shipbuilding International for COSCO SHIPPING Special Transport was delivered in Nansha, Guangzhou. The naming guest named the ship "New Yaohua". The ship's deadweight tonnage is second only to China's largest semi-submersible vessel "Xinguanghua", which was built and delivered by Guangzhou Shipbuilding International in 2016.

Semi-submersible ship, is a kind of transport ship that can "dive", also known as "sea Hercules forklift", it can be like a forklift on land, through the adjustment of its own ballast water, the deck is submerged into the water, and the cargo is lifted from the designated position to complete the loading. Such ships are mainly used to transport very large equipment that cannot be lifted separately, such as offshore engineering platforms, oil and gas extraction modules, large wind power equipment, and ships that have lost power.

The "New Yaohua" semi-submersible vessel is an 80,000-ton semi-submersible vessel, which is the second largest submersible vessel in China. The ship is 255 meters long, 57 meters wide, has a diving draft of 30.5 meters, a load capacity of 80,000 tons, and a service speed of 14.5 knots. The loading deck is 210 meters long and 57 meters wide, and the loading deck area is close to the size of two standard football fields.

The new Yaohua has 108 ballast water tanks, each of which has a valve that leads directly to the seabed. When diving operations, as long as the submarine valve of the corresponding ballast compartment is opened through the control system, within 6 hours, the ship can automatically dive into the water for 30.5 meters. When floating, air is injected into the corresponding ballast water tank through the 4 large air compressors equipped on the ship, and the ballast water in the ballast tank will be automatically discharged from the ship, and the ship will float. During the submarine test, the ship dived to a predetermined depth in only 3.5 hours, and the comprehensive performance of the submersible float was excellent.

The New YWIES is powered by four electric propulsion systems and two sets of side thrusters in the bow and bow. The vessel is powered by six main diesel generator sets with a power of 4,500 kW and comes with its own state-of-the-art power positioning system. Such a high specification of the power configuration makes this ship have the most powerful power performance.

According to lin jiuyue, the ship's project manager, the ship can use DGPS, laser, radar three sets of systems for power positioning, and the error is only 0.05 meters, can be implemented at sea comparable to the "needle embroidery" type of high-precision operation.

"New Yaohua" is very intelligent, in various areas of the ship, densely set up more than 9,000 automatic control points, these control points are like the nervous system of the human body, any small equipment on the ship fails, the operator can find and remotely process at the first time.

The Semi-Submersible Shin Ywah is an optimized version of the Shin Kwang Wah vessel, and although the deadweight tonnage is slightly smaller than the Shin Kwang Wah vessel, its comprehensive performance is superior. With its rich experience in the field of semi-submersible ship construction, Guangzhou Shipbuilding International has successfully conquered a large number of key technologies in the construction of this ship. In addition, the ship uses all-electric propulsion, with a cable length of 450 km, of which the propulsion system is powered by a medium-voltage system of 6600 volts. (End)
