The film begins with a girl in the camera, and she follows the melodious singing voice to a classroom, where she sees the choir, and she looks envious and liked.
The girl was Sophie, a new transfer student, and when the principal asked her what she was interested in, she thought about it and said she wanted to join the school choir, while the principal said "anyone can sing as much as they want".
So Sophie joined the choir as she wished, and the child's eyes showed a light, how happy it would be to participate in a thing she liked.
In this new school environment, Sophie and Lisa in the class became very good friends.
Lisa, it can be said that the class flower, sweet heart, excellent in everything, even the choir teacher said that she is very talented. After meeting Sophie, who also loves to sing, the two can be said to have finally found like-minded friends.
They play games together, listen to songs together, dance together.
After Sophie's first practice in the choir, the teacher left Sophie alone to talk, and she was told that in the future she only needed to "silently sing" because she was not good enough, and if she sang, it would affect the overall competition performance.
After the choir teacher asked Sophie to sing silently, Sophie's eyes seemed to have no light, she was not happy about joining the choir, she could only open her mouth like a fish, but could not make a sound.
This is a blow to a child who likes to sing, and if it continues to be like this, it may also have an impact on this child when she grows up, she will become less confident, not cheerful, she will feel that she can't do anything well, and she will lose confidence in anything that interests her.

Sophie finally told Lisa the secret in a tangled hesitation, and at the moment of informing, she finally vented the grievances buried in her heart.
So later, in the next choral practice, Lisa carefully observed the classmates around her and found that it was not only Sophie who was asked to "silently sing".
It turns out that in order to win the so-called competition, the teacher "shuts up" the untalented children, limiting their due rights.
Is it to love singing, or to win awards?
Lisa in the film is really great, she is not for herself, but for the whole group, she wants everyone to be able to sing, because everyone came to the choir because they like to sing, if it is just to win or lose, that is not their original intention.
After learning the truth, Sophie and Lisa feel that this is unfair, so the children unite and all of them "sing silently" during the game.
The ending, "Silent Resistance," is deafening.
This Hungarian film, full of children's voices and music, raises many serious questions in the form of sketch stories, such as the relationship between the individual and the collective, such as the choice between interest and reality. Children and children's voices interpret this story into a "fairy tale". But there's something even more terrifying to follow in the story — reality is not a fairy tale.
