Yang Baoshan was born in 1919 to a poor peasant family in Dashi Town, Dunhua City, Jilin Province. During the Liberation War, he was brave and good at war, and made many military achievements, and in 1948, Yang Baoshan became a glorious Communist Party member. In March 1951, Yang Baoshan went to Korea with his troops to fight, taking on the task of defending the east bank of the Linjin River. Yang Baoshan, then the company commander, in accordance with the deployment of his superiors, led the company to hold the Tiande Mountain position in September of that year. Yang Baoshan repeatedly studied the battle plan, guided the soldiers to dig fortifications, and encouraged everyone to stick to their positions. On October 1, 1951, under the cover of aircraft and tanks, the enemy launched a general attack on Tiande Mountain, and Yang Baoshan and his comrades repelled the enemy many times, killing and wounding more than 300 enemy soldiers. On October 3, the enemy launched a series of attacks, which were repelled by Yang Baoshan and his comrades-in-arms. The enemy who failed to succeed actually used tens of thousands of shells on the Tiande Mountain position, and the entire surface of the ground was blown into scorched earth, and the enemy took advantage of the void and attacked the Tiande Mountain position from the flank. Yang Baoshan received an order from the battalion commander to eliminate this enemy force.

Yang Baoshan defended the mission of the soldiers with his blood and life, and carried forward the spirit of patriotism and revolutionary heroism. In order to commend this heroic company and company commander Yang Baoshan, with the approval of the headquarters of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army, Yang Baoshan was given the fifth company where Yang Baoshan belonged to the special meritorious service once, and was awarded the glorious title of "Weizhen Tiandeshan Hero Company"; the company commander Yang Baoshan was given a special meritorious service once, and the honorary title of "first-class combat hero" was awarded. On October 5, 1952, Yang Baoshan's unit posthumously awarded him a second-class medal for freedom and independence.
