Introduction
The Tiaozi Ni Scenic Area is an important part of the World Natural Heritage China Yellow (Bohai) Sea Migratory Bird Habitat (Phase I) and an important "stopover" on the East Asia-Australasia migratory bird migration route, where millions of birds stop every year, known as the "International Airport for Birds". Among them, the star bird species represented by the spoon-billed sandpiper have attracted strong attention from international bird lovers.
It has a unique landscape of China's coastal areas such as "first-line tide", "two-point water" and "tidal forest", presenting natural scenes such as "sea bathing day", "sky mirror", "pure starry sky", "falling xia flock" and "Chinese red".
The scenic spot has carried out activities such as the Strip Mud Bird Watching Festival, "Focus on strip mud and photography fun", "Lohas Beach Play" and other activities, and the market response has been enthusiastic; mainstream media such as "News Network", "News Live Room", "Focus Interview" and other mainstream media have been focused on many times, and the popularity and reputation of "World Heritage Pearl Strip Mud" have been continuously improved.
- Spoon-billed sandpiper -
Spoon-billed sandpiper: Sparrow-sized (body length 14 to 16 cm), mouth like a small black spoon, one of the world's most endangered species (known as "bird giant panda"), Dongtai people affectionately call it "small spoon".
Data show that in the early 1970s, the number of spoon-billed sandpiper populations was still 2,000-2,800 pairs; by 2000 there were at least 1,000 pairs; today, there are only about 210 pairs. This cute elf, which is only 14-16 cm long, is a typical migratory bird, breeding in the tundra and meadows of the Chukchi region in northeastern Siberia every summer, and then passing through the tidal flats of Japan, the Korean Peninsula, and the east coast of China, and wintering on the coast of Southeast and South Asia. In this process, dongtai strip mud with a good ecological environment has increasingly become a transit station for migratory birds represented by spoon-billed sandpipers, and more than 50% of spoon-billed sandpipers will come to the Yellow Sea wetland with strip mud as the main focus to forage for food and moult, staying for up to 3 months.
Li Jing, a member of the "Spoon-billed Sandpiper in China" public welfare organization, introduced that among the more than 1,400 kinds of wild birds in China, there are about 500 species in Jiangsu, and about 400 kinds will appear along the beach in Dongtai, of which 80% are migratory birds, the most are sandpiper migratory birds, and there are as many as 57 species in the strip mudflats. There are more than 200 species of birds resting and breeding along the coast of Dongtai, including 6 species of birds protected at the national level and 44 species of birds protected by the national class II, including spoon-billed sandpipers, Aurora jay finches, white storks and other endangered and rare birds. The spoon-billed sandpiper is one of the rarest critically endangered species.

In recent years, Dongtai has carefully cared for the wetlands of the beach and focused on protecting unique resources such as rare birds. As the ecological environment of the strip mud wetland is getting better and better, flamingos have come to roost for many years.
Flamingos, rare birds of the world, national first-class protected animals, mainly distributed in Africa, Central Asia, South Asia and other tropical and subtropical regions.
According to the data, in addition to the flamingos for viewing in zoos, wild flamingos are rarely recorded in China, and the number is very small.
Flamingos with their unique bright colors, confident and charming S-shaped long neck, long and slender feet, and elegant feeding posture like a beautiful lady are in a unique position in the animal kingdom. Its plumage color comes from the chitin contained in the plankton it feeds on. Young flamingos eat less plankton and ingest less chitin, so the plumage is only slightly red, most of them are still white or pink; as they age, the flamingos ingest more chitin, and the plumage turns from white to pink, from pink to red, and gradually becomes darker, becoming the bright red engraved in our memories.

On 11 October, the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity will be held in Kunming, Yunnan, China. A large number of migratory birds are migrating to the Dongtai Tiaozi Wetland, including the world's only hundreds of "giant pandas among birds" spoon-billed sandpipers.
Dongtai adheres to the principle of ecological and natural restoration, supplemented by moderate intervention by man. On the basis of respecting the laws of nature, the stripe mud wetland has created the first fixed high tide migratory bird habitat in China through the construction of small sandpiper habitats such as spoon-billed sandpipers, the restoration of bare beach wetlands, the construction of islands, and the construction of breeding grounds for black-billed gulls. After the completion of the "720" climactic habitat restored based on the NbS concept, more and more birds have inhabited here, and it has been praised by CCTV's "News Network" as a "Chinese sample" for the ecological restoration of natural heritage. Since being inscribed on the World Heritage List in July 2019, Dongtai Tiaozi Mud Wetland has completed the reclamation of 17,000 mu of breeding areas to return to fishing and wet, accumulatively rectifying 12,000 mu of mutual flowers and rice grasses; delineating 2,800 mu of breeding land for black-billed gulls, and full-time personnel patrolling and protecting them for 24 hours to ensure that the breeding of birds in the breeding area is not interfered with by humans.
On September 22, 1,164 rare species of small blue-footed sandpipers were monitored in dongtai tiaozi wetland. From the general belief that the global population of the small blue-footed sandpiper does not exceed 1,000, to the monitoring of 1150 stripes of mud last year, and then to 1164 this year, the number of small blue-footed sandpipers in the stripe mud has exceeded the academic estimate for two consecutive years.
At 11 o'clock on October 5, it was the time when the mud was rising. Outside the levee, the waves are coming, and the birds that are foraging for food on the beach are spreading their wings and soaring. Separated by a dike, it is their 720 acres of "home" to escape the tide. Thousands of birds flew over the seawall, where they landed and waited two hours for the tide to recede.
The 720 acres of special land is the first fixed climatic migratory bird habitat in China built by Dongtai, and it is also a good way for the Global Conservation Alliance group to put international observation methods and conservation concepts in this habitat, and finally form a good method for global learning and reference. "In this 720-acre 'homeland', the number of migratory birds is rising, last year we monitored 58,000 birds here at the same time, and this year this year the number has risen to 65,000. These, together with the two consecutive years of population increases of the small blue-footed sandpiper, have become a powerful footnote to the important position of the strip mud in global biodiversity conservation. Dr. Jia Yifei, Beijing Forestry University and East Asia-Australasia Migratory Bird Migration Research Center, said.
In summary, how is the "Dongtai sample" of biodiversity created? To sum up in three sentences:
Great protection with micro experience. The protected area of the tiaozi mud wetland is about 858 square kilometers, which can allow tourists to enter and experience the scope of about 5 square kilometers, accounting for less than 1% of the total area, effectively avoiding the impact on the protection of large-scale wetlands.
Micro-experience with limited, orderly. The beach for tourists to experience is without buildings, and the time for tourists to go down to the beach is as far as possible after the birds are foraging for food (about 1 hour after the low tide dew beach).
720 high tide habitat. The world's first fixed, artificially adjustable bird orgasm habitat, providing a habitat for birds during the high tide period, known as the "Bird Luxury Club".

On October 31, a confirmed case of COVID-19 was reported in Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou, which had been playing at Shanghai Disneyland on October 30.
