The film is adapted from the novel "The Question of His Eyes" by the famous Argentine writer Eduardo Saceri.
On the surface, the film is about a rape and murder case that occurred 25 years ago, but in fact, it is set against the backdrop of the social environment of the Argentine turmoil in the 1970s, telling the esoteric themes of human nature, love and hate, life and death, as well as the judicial corruption of a country in a turbulent environment.
Benjamin Esposito, a recently retired Honorary Doctor of the Royal Family, retired from a life of boredom that gave him the idea of writing novels based on his own experiences.
After much deliberation, he decided to set out to document one of his most memorable homicides 25 years ago.
But things were not as easy as he thought, he wrote 15 times at the beginning alone, each time no more than 5 lines, in the face of 25 years of dusty memories, Benjamin obviously could not write.
To this end, he approached his old colleague Erin, who was 25 years old, and hoped that she would help him sort his thinking.
Twenty-five years ago, Benjamin was just an ordinary clerk in the prosecutor's office.
One day, he was sent to the scene of a rape and murder case to examine the victim's body.
Benjamin was dissatisfied with his colleagues playing a ball to give him the task of inspecting the scene, but when he saw the female victim, he was determined to catch the murderer.
Because the murdered girl Lillian was scarred and had obviously been inhumanly abused before her death, the tragic death was in stark contrast to the beautiful and brilliant picture of Lilian in the room, which brought Great shock to Benjamin.
Soon, Benjamin finds Lillian's husband, Morales, hoping to find a breakthrough in the case.
While flipping through Lillian's photo albums from childhood to adulthood, Benjamin noticed something unusual—in multiple photographs, a man named Gomez was always looking at Lillian.
Anomalies must have demons, and intuition tells Benjamin that Gomöz is related to Lillian's affair.
When Benjamin searched for Gomoz, he found that he had moved out of his original residence a month ago and disappeared without a trace.
In desperation, Benjamin and his colleague Salva had to sneak into Gormoz's original residence, hoping to find his clues, and eventually they harvested a batch of Gomoz's letters.
While Benjamin investigates the killer, Lillian's husband, Morales, also hates the killer to the bone, wandering in a different station every day, hoping to find go-to-go moz.
Morales's affection further clarified Benjamin's determination to capture the killer.
Fortunately, in Gormoz's letter, Salva found that Gormoz was a veteran fan, and he believed that a person's interests and hobbies would not change, so Gormoz would definitely appear in the audience of the stadium.
Four consecutive days of searching in the 10,000-man stadium helped Benjamin finally capture Gormoz.
But in the face of Benjamin's interrogation, Gormoz did not initially confess guilt, but pretended to be innocent.
His disguise almost made everyone believe him, but Linda accidentally spotted Gormoz peeking at her slightly open neckline, looking lewd.
Linda had a clever move, although she verbally said that he could not be the murderer, but in fact she was ridiculing him that he was not manly enough to create crimes at the crime scene.
Under Linda's incitement, Gormoz became angry and confessed that he was Lillian's killer.
It was thought that the case was over, but soon after, Morales found that Gomoz had appeared on a television screen and was receiving a presidential commendation.
It turned out that in prison, he was requisitioned by the military as a thug, and the military fished him out of prison in disregard of etiquette and has been at large ever since.
After being released, Gormoz did not relent, but instead broke into Benjamin's house at night to get revenge.
But that night it was not himself at Benjamin's house, but his colleague Salva, who eventually died at the muzzle of Gormoz's gun.
Faced with Gomoz's fearlessness, Linda insists that Benjamin leave the city and let him take refuge in a safe place, while the two are secretly in love.
But because Benjamin always felt that he was not worthy of Linda, coupled with the presence of Gomoz, the two were ultimately inseparable.
Who knew that this separation would be 25 years.
25 years later, Benjamin found Morales again, hoping he would let go of everything he had been and start a life over.
But he still saw Pictures of Lillian in Morales's house, and it was clear that Morales could not get out of the inner torment of the tragic death of his wife for the rest of his life.
And Morales also told the shocking secret: he said that he had killed Gomoz, who had been released from prison, 25 years earlier.
Perhaps killing his wife's killer with his own hands can alleviate Morales's inner pain, although he was a prosecutor before, Benjamin did not want to pursue it again, not to mention that Gormoz deserved to die.
As Benjamin drives away from morales' house, fragments of the past emerge:
Morales' hatred for Gomoz is so deep that he threatens not to accept the death penalty easily;
Morales's affection for Lillian lasts for 25 years, while he and Linda miss it for the rest of their lives because of their cowardice...
The past came to mind, and Benjamin suddenly had an epiphany, turned around and returned to Morales's house to secretly observe.
Finally, when night fell, he secretly followed Morales into a small house, where he found Gomoz, whom he had been imprisoned for 25 years.
And Gormoz has nearly collapsed because he has not spoken to outsiders for 25 years.
Eventually Benjamin wordlessly left Morales' home and found Linda.
Revisiting the past 25 years ago, Benjamin understood Morales's obsession and his own obsession, and he clearly realized that he still had a deep affection for Linda and decided to try again, and this time, he did it.
The genre of the film is written with plot and suspense, but it is actually telling a love story spanning 25 years, which contains the turbulent environment of Argentina in the 70s and the regrets of a pair of lovers who cannot love, and discusses the contest between life and death, crime and punishment.
In the film, a 6-minute long scene of Benjamin and Salva looking for the murderer in the football field is recorded in film history.
From the beginning of the grandeur of the stadium, to the gradual penetration of the audience, the urgency of shuttling through the tens of thousands of people, to the shaking during the chase, each shot is assisting the rhythm of the film, which is wonderful.
It is reported that in order to this short 6 minutes, the crew spent two years preparing, 3 days of shooting, using 200 extras (post-special effects made tens of thousands of people), and the post-editing time also took up to 9 months.
Fortunately, the final result is remarkable and unforgettable.
This is a very worthwhile film to watch and recommend to everyone.
