"How many poets have gilded time into gold!"
Shi Jie's divine qualities will always be my fantasy
Nourished, wonderful poems..."
On January 15th, the "Endless Reading: The 14th Guangzhou New Year Poetry Festival" sponsored by Poetry and People was held in Guangzhou Sihai City Peak Park. Among the lush miscanthus trees, poems are interpreted in different forms, stretching endlessly to other places along the "U" shaped stage, bringing a poetic audio-visual feast to the citizens of Guangzhou.

It is reported that the theme of this year's Guangzhou New Year Poetry Festival is "Endless Reading", which is to make a "boundary breaking" of poetry texts in time and space, so that readers can see the charm of poetry extending to endless places.
The event opened with a loud trumpet performance, and "I Have a Pocket Full of Stars" by the Spring Wind Choir took the audience into a poetic night of twinkling stars. The event lasted 90 minutes and was divided into four chapters: "Power to Dream", "Endless Memory", "New Thoughts", "The Flesh of Words", and "Eyes of Listening".
Among them, not only Tan Yujie, Wu Linke, Li Ting, zeng Chunsen, four actors interpret the poetry works of Guangzhou poets Hua Qianshu, Wang Zhihua, An Pomegranate, Wang Nengping, Feng Na and Jia Li in the form of sitcoms, as well as Guangzhou poets Shi Bin, Du Lulu, Li Heng and Meng Han who came to the scene to give their voices and read their own poems with deep feelings, so that the audience could experience the poets' own experience in expounding the language of poetry.
The Guangzhou New Year Poetry Festival is also a stage for professional voices. Many famous reciters in Guangzhou, such as Wang Fei, Zu Qing, Zhong Si, Yiwen, Nie Li, etc., use their unique voices to express Jack Gilbert's "Horses in the Midnight of the Moonless", Aki's "Here", Sodergrand's "The Void World", Borges's "The Art of Poetry", John Watsch's "How Many Poets Have Gilded Time into Gold", Mary Oliver's "What Is Beyond Knowing" and other classic famous passages, they are either gentle and deep voices, or warm and elegant tones, Bring unlimited thinking and physical and mental resonance to the audience.
In addition, whether it is the poetry theater "Another Dream" performed by the Yunna Dance Troupe, the "To the New Year" recited in the group at the end, the German art song "DieLotosblume" sung by the tenor, and the integration of piano, cello, guitar, harmonica, flute and other instruments, all add diversity of expression to the poetry club, making the scene a "constellation" of poetry.
Born in 2008, the Guangzhou New Year Poetry Festival was invited by the Guangzhou Library in 2014, and this year is the first time since 2014 that the Guangzhou New Year Poetry Festival has stepped out of the Guangzhou Library and become the "New Year Poetry Society Walking in Guangzhou". Director Jiang Xiaofei told reporters that the Guangzhou New Year Poetry Festival is not only a poetry recitation and artistic expression, but also a dialogue with the environment to find poetry and produce wonderful memories with the city.
"The Guangzhou New Year Poetry Festival provides not only rituals, but also heartfelt joy and imagination, and the works created by poets are more dreamable and inexhaustible than the limited things around them." An audience member said so.
"When we are depressed or depressed, poetry lends us a helping hand, opens our hearts, gives us a better understanding of the world, and helps us live." In the view of Huang Libao, a poet and founder of the Guangzhou New Year Poetry Society, poetry freely links different lives with each other, and listening to a poem in the New Year can allow us to cross the obstacles of real life and rise up new hopes.
