There are many film and television dramas about Hong Xiguan, among which there are not a few classics.
In 1994 alone, the Hong Kong film and television circle actually gave birth to three film and television dramas starring Hong Xiguan.
The most famous of these is naturally the film "New Shaolin Five Ancestors" starring Jet Li, and the co-production film "Shaolin Hero Fang Shiyu Hong Xiguan" starring Lin Zhengying and Qian Jiale in the same year, but the influence is far less than the former.
In addition, in 1994, there was also an ATV TV series "Hong Xiguan", which starred Zhen Zidan, which was a great success after being broadcast that year, and was a classic martial arts drama that many viewers remembered as children.
After Hong Kong TV dramas entered the 1990s, Asia Television, as one of the most powerful television stations in Hong Kong, continued the sophisticated production of the past, among which the unique style of martial arts dramas was even more unique, "Xianhe Shen needle", "Sword Howling Jianghu" and "Snowflake Excalibur" were all highly received works at that time.
This "Hong Xiguan" is no exception, in addition to starring Zhen Zidan, the drama also gathered Zhang Jiahui, Cai Xiaoyi, Pan Zhiwen, Zhen Zhiqiang, Wu Yijiang and other star teams, especially the director was Chen Musheng, who had already filmed "Heavenly Love", so the whole drama was filmed according to the film specifications, so it was recognized as a classic martial arts drama of ATV.

This "Hong Xi Guan" was filmed and broadcast in 1994.
The story tells that Hong Xiguan, played by Zhen Zidan, joined the anti-Qing organization Sun Moon Society under the influence of his father, and met Fang Shiyu (Played by Zhang Jiahui), Yan Wing Chun (Played by Cai Xiaoyi), Tong Qianjin (Played by Leung Ri-ho) and other volunteers.
Later, they worshiped together under the Shaolin Gate and studied with the five masters and the three monks (played by Wu Yijiang). Unfortunately, under the setup of the Qianlong Emperor (Huang Yuncai) and Gao Jinzhong (Zhen Zhiqiang), only Hong Xiguan survived in the end, and the Hongjia boxing skills were passed on to future generations.
It can be seen that the plot of "Hong Xi Guan" follows the legend of "burning Shaolin Temple", which is common in Hong Kong-made martial arts movies. After Chen Musheng's adaptation, many of the details have been reinterpreted. For example, the Baimei Daoists were no longer simple imperial court eagle dogs, but the illegitimate sons of Kangxi, plotting to usurp the Throne of Qianlong.
In the last issue, we already said that after Hong Xiguan was destroyed by the Hong family, he went to Hangzhou with his friend Gao Jinzhong, and thus became acquainted with the young and crazy Fang Shiyu, and several people successively studied in Southern Shaolin, and their fates have since intersected.

It is said that after Hong Xiguan, Fang Shiyu and others studied Shaolin, the next step was the regular process of practicing and learning art.
The young lay disciples were trained by the Three Virtues every day for some rough work such as diving and chopping wood, or the most basic Shaolin long fist, and over time, they thought that the Master Three Virtues were not willing to teach them true kung fu at all.
However, with the passage of training, the five gradually understood the painstaking heart of Master Sande, and learning martial arts needed to start from the foundation.
In the process of learning martial arts, Hong Xiguan and Fang Shiyu went from looking at each other unfavorably at the beginning to gradually becoming friends. At the same time, Hong Xiguan also met Zheng Ling'er, a peasant girl who often delivered vegetables to the temple, at the foot of the mountain, and Zheng Ling'er gradually developed a good feeling for Hong Xiguan.
After a happy period of study, Fang Shiyu's enemy Li's father and daughter came to the door and named Fang Shiyu to fight for life and death.
As a positive role, Fang Shiyu is bound to be indispensable to plug-in support. During his studies in Shaolin, Fang Shiyu accidentally met and lived in
Nearby on the mountain, the tall man wu shitai, and got her to teach the kung fu of plum blossom piles.
Therefore, Fang Shiyu asked Li Bashan to compete on the plum blossom pile, and Li Bashan was unable to exert all his strength on the plum blossom pile, and as a result, he was kicked off the plum blossom pile by Fang Shiyu and died in the knife bush.
Fang Shiyu won the battle against Li Bashan, but the effect was the "serious inner volume" of the Shaolin Layman Disciple Class.
After all, learning martial arts also depends on talent, and the five Shaolin lay disciples have gradually developed a gap in their level in the process of learning art.
Fang Shiyu and Hong Xiguan had the highest talent, the fastest progress in martial arts, Tong Qianjin had natural divine power, but he could also learn something, and Hu Huiqian was halfway out of the house, so no one compared with him.
The most tragic thing is that Gao Jinzhong, who is more than inferior to the bottom, sees that his friend Hong Xiguan, who enrolled in the same period, has been able to stand alone, but he can only practice long fists, and the flame of jealousy has taken root in his heart.
As a result, he began to secretly learn the Eighteen Hands of Shaolin, only to be discovered by Master Sande and expelled from the Shaolin Temple.
Since then, Gao Jinzhong and Hong Xiguan, two former friends, have embarked on opposite paths.
After studying art in Shaolin for a while, Hong Xiguan received the news that his father had fallen off a cliff and did not die.
So he interceded with Master Sande and wanted to take a leave of absence to go down the mountain to see his father.
Unexpectedly, the imperial court also received intelligence, and Feng Daode once again led his men and horses to round up Hongtingnan. Hong Tingnan's serious injuries were not healed, and eventually fell into the hands of Feng Daode, and when Hong Xiguan arrived, he could only risk his life to rescue the trapped Yan Wing Chun from the hands of Qing soldiers.
Hong Xiguan prepares to join the Sun and Moon Society to rescue his father, but according to Shaolin rules, leaving Shaolin requires completing the graduation exam, and the martial monks need to fight out of The Wooden Man Alley. In the end, Hong Xiguan, Fang Shiyu and Tong Qianjin successfully passed the customs, and the three completed the account upgrade.
However, Hu Huiqian did not succeed in learning martial arts, but went down the mountain to take revenge without authorization, and was known to Master Sande, so he was punished and expelled from Shaolin.
Hu Huiqian, who left the Shaolin Temple, joined Hong Xiguan and participated in the rescue of Hong Tingnan.
Everyone returned to Guangdong and reunited with their former classmate Gao Jinzhong, but they did not expect that Gao Jinzhong was now a court eagle dog.
It turned out that after being expelled from Shaolin, Gao Jinzhong once again had nothing and returned to his hometown in Guangdong, but unexpectedly learned of his origins. The birth mother is now the favorite concubine of the powerful minister Murib, who has never had children, and the original adopted son Shuoto has also died, so he adopts Gao Jinzhong as a righteous son.
Gao Jinzhong transformed himself, put on his official uniform, and swore allegiance to Muribu, but in fact ambition had begun to breed.
Hong Xiguan found out that his father Hong Tingnan was now imprisoned in the heavily guarded Ninth Xiaolou, so he ventured to break into the building with his men and horses.
The villain Feng Daode has been waiting here for a long time and has set up an ambush.
Hong Xiguan and his party were trapped by the organs, and at a critical moment, Hu Huiqian sacrificed himself and used his flesh and blood to prevent the organs from falling, and finally died tragically. This time, the invasion of the building caused heavy casualties to the Sun Moon Society, and Yan Wing Chun's fiancé was also killed.
Fortunately, Hong Tingnan was released with the help of his former friend Hasado, and Hasado was given poisoned wine by the emperor, and his daughter Tong Min has been helpless ever since.
Gao Jinzhong is now bent on power and profit, so he sacrifices his former love Tong Min to his adoptive father Mulibu to win trust, and at the same time uses Tong Min to be an undercover agent next to Mulibu.
After that, Gao Jinzhong took the initiative to contact Hong Xiguan, falsely claiming that he wanted to unite with the Sun and Moon Society to get rid of Muribu together. However, behind the scenes, an ambush was set up, allowing Feng Daode to compete with hongting nan sandpiper clams, and eventually both were defeated, and Hongtingnan was poisoned.
Hong Xiguan had no choice but to take the poisoned Hong Ting south to Shaolin and ask for help from the Zen master.
Hong Xiguan, who returns to Shaolin, falls into a love triangle, and Zheng Ling'er is obsessed with him, but Hong Xiguan has a better feeling for Yan Wing Chun in his heart.
Yan Wing Chun had no intention of falling in love, and his father and fiancé died at the hands of officers and soldiers one after another, which made Yan Wing Chun feel discouraged.
At this time, Hong Xiguan and Fang Shiyu introduced Yan Wing Chun to the five masters, and the five treasures valued Wing Chun's qualifications, so they accepted her as apprentices, taught her the two-character pincer sheep horse and the six-and-a-half stick method, and completed the initial teaching of Wing Chun.
The news that Hong Tingnan was hiding in the Shaolin Temple was quickly discovered by Gao Jinzhong, so he took someone to arrest Shaolin immediately.
Feng Daode knew that he could not defeat Hong Tingnan, so he sent his disciples to find his uncle, the martial idiot Baimei Daoist, threatening that today, only Hong Tingnan was qualified to fight with Baimei.
Bai Mei was bent on being the first in the world, and sure enough, he took the bait and promised to help Feng Daode take a shot and challenge Shaolin.
In the face of the pressure of Gao Jinzhong's army, the Zen Master of Zhishan took out the Danshu iron coupon given by the Shunzhi Emperor, forcing Gao Jinzhong to retreat.
At the same time, Zen Master Zhishan arranged for Hong Tingnan and others to escape from the secret passage, but they were unexpectedly discovered by Gao Jinzhong, who was guarding the mountain.
Bai Mei struck, and Hong Tingnan was severely injured, leaving only three days of life.
At the end of his life, Hong Tingnan passed on the Hongjia fist technique to his son Hong Xiguan, and then single-handedly assassinated Qianlong in the capital.
In the end, Hong Tingnan was killed by Feng Daode, and Hong Xiguan was also hit by the shaman snake venom hidden on Feng Daode's sword during the breakout, and his life was in danger.
Knowing that he had no cure, Hong Xiguan decided to leave and wait for death, and instructed Fang Shiyu to hide the matter for himself, and everyone else thought that Hong Xiguan was looking for the Third Prince of Zhu of the Ming Dynasty to unite the forces against the Qing and restore the Ming Dynasty.
After Fang Shiyu left, Zheng Ling'er was seriously ill, coupled with the tragic death of her parents, so her heart was like ashes, and she died depressed.
After Hong Tingnan's death, the imperial court still refused to let go of the Shaolin Temple.
In order to destroy the umbrella of the Shaolin Temple in one fell swoop, Feng Daode broke into Shaolin at night and stole the Danshu iron coupons in the temple.
Then, Qianlong came to the Shaolin Temple to ask about the guilt, under the pretext of seeing Shaolin's Danshu iron coupons, and wanted to use it to ask for guilt.
Gao Jinzhong confidently expected the emperor to order the destruction of the Shaolin Temple, but unexpectedly, the Zen master brought an old monk from the temple to meet Qianlong alone. Qianlong then hurriedly left and ordered the withdrawal of troops.
After the crisis, the Zen master Zhishan ordered Master Sande and Fang Shiyu to go to the capital to secretly meet Qianlong and ask the emperor to assist the Sun and Moon Society in overthrowing the Qing court.
The reliance of the Supreme Zen Master is to grasp a big secret of Qianlong.
It turned out that Qianlong was not the son of Yongzheng, but the baby boy that Yongzheng had bought from the Chen family in Haining in order to succeed to the throne. And the old monk who was brought by the Zen master to meet Qianlong that day was None other than Qianlong's true biological father, Chen Shiqian.
Qianlong was afraid that others would know this secret, so he had to pretend to agree to Fang Shiyu's request.
Back to the Shaolin Temple.
Bai Mei Daoren then challenged Shaolin, claiming to have a crush on the talented Fang Shiyu and wanted to forcibly take him as an apprentice.
The Baimei Daoist fought in Shaolin, the Three Virtues were defeated, and finally the abbot Zhishan Zen Master intervened to defeat the Baimei Daoist, because the Baimei killed too much, the abbot ordered it to be imprisoned in Shaolin, and it was not known that this was right in the middle of the Baimei.
In fact, the purpose of the Baimei Daoists was to infiltrate the Shaolin Temple and secretly investigate Qianlong's secrets, so they found Chen Shiqiao hidden in the temple.
Bai Mei Dao, who learned of Qianlong's identity, revealed his hidden identity, and he turned out to be the fourteenth son of Kangxi.
The Capture of the Concubine in Kowloon is a subject that many Qing Palace dramas are keen to interpret, and there is a similar plot in the "King's Landing" broadcast by ATV at the same time: the secret edict left by Kangxi before his death is written as "The Fourteen Sons of the Succession", but Yongzheng privately changed the edict to "Chuan is located in the Fourth Son" (of course, it is only a wild history legend).
All in all, Bai Mei believed that Yongzheng had taken the throne that should have belonged to him, so when he learned the secret of Qianlong's identity, he wanted to take the throne again.
Bai Mei entered the palace and took Qianlong hostage and threatened him to take the initiative to abdicate.
On the other hand, the Shaolin disciples led by Fang Shiyu and Sande hoped to complete the great cause of opposing the Qing Dynasty and restoring the Ming Dynasty as Qianlong Han Chinese, so in order to protect Qianlong, they fought with BaiMei.
However, Bai Mei was the peak of the combat strength of the whole drama, and Fang Shiyu and others could not help him at all.
At the critical moment, Hong Xiguan, who had been offline for four episodes, finally went online.
It turned out that after Hong Xiguan was poisoned and left, he was actually rescued by the Qiang people, who not only healed the poisonous wounds, but also fused the Hongjia fist with the Shaolin fist during the period of recuperation, creating the Tiger Crane Double Shape Hong Fist.
Hong Xiguan, who had achieved great kung fu, eventually succeeded in killing Bai Mei.
Qianlong ostensibly thanked the Shaolin disciples for their kindness, but in fact crossed the river and demolished the bridge, secretly giving medicine to everyone.
Then began a great purge, intending to get rid of all the people who knew the secrets of their origins, and Fang Shiyu was killed.
Sande and the others fled back to the Shaolin Temple, where Hong Xiguan married Yan Wing Chun and sent him away, while he himself went to Shaolin to coexist and die.
The secret of Qianlong's identity was discovered by the ambitious Gao Jinzhong.
Mastering such a big secret made Gao Jinzhong see the opportunity, and he used it to threaten Qianlong and make the emperor crown himself king.
Qianlong was forced to agree, but demanded that Gao Jinzhong must first destroy the Shaolin Temple.
Later, Gao Jinzhong threatened Feng Daode and passed on the Wudang Absolute Learning to himself, and from then on he was both a martial artist of Wudang and Shaolin.
At the climax of the story, Gao Jinzhong leads his troops to burn Southern Shaolin.
Zen Master Zhishan and Master Sande died tragically, and although Hong Xiguan killed the evil Feng Daode, Southern Shaolin was destroyed.
After the suppression of Shaolin, Gao Jinzhong fulfilled his wish, was given the title of knight, and prepared to return to his hometown.
However, on Gao Jinzhong's way back to his hometown, Hong Xiguan waited here, and the two sides fought a final decisive battle, and were eventually killed by Hong Xiguan. Hong Xiguan has been tossing and turning for many years and reuniting with the lost Yan Wing Chun, and the story ends here.
As a blockbuster work of ATV that year, this "Hong Xiguan" spared no effort in production, and its classic degree is beyond doubt, and to this day, it is still a classic martial arts drama in Hong Kong and Taiwan in the memory of many audiences.
As a TV series featuring Fang Shiyu and Hong Xiguan, the drama almost integrates the classic bridges and characters in the traditional Fang Shiyu and Hong Xiguan yanyi stories, Fang Shiyu, Yan Wing Chun, Sande monks, etc. are all important characters in the play, as well as the "Shaolin Five Elders" of the previous generation, such as the abbot of the supreme good, the White Brow Daoist, the Five Pieces of Shitai, and Feng Daode.
The play not only has a wonderful storyline, the action fight scene is also a highlight, Zhen Zidan, as the martial arts consultant of the whole play, participates in the martial arts design is very ornamental, and this play is a costume martial arts, so it is more common to appear in the traditional martial arts routine, mainly Southern Fist Kung Fu, action design and aesthetics pay attention to "real".
The two most brilliant characters portrayed in this play, one is Pan Zhiwen's Hong Xiguan father Hong Tingnan, is the standard image of the great hero master, he has ideals and righteousness, majesty and pride, strong martial arts, and at the same time is a strict and loving father, and even for the sake of his son's life, he will kneel to the most hated imperial court eagle dog Mu Libu, and the father-son relationship between him and his son Hong Xiguan is a very moving part of this play.
The second is the big villain Gao Jinzhong, played by Zhen Zhiqiang, although he is a villain, the personality transformation before and after this role is interpreted in flesh and blood, he is not a faceless villain, the screenwriter uses a lot of details to portray how he was corrupted by power and greed, and finally stepped onto the road of self-destruction step by step.
On the one hand, Gao Jinzhong is an absolute ambitionist, he will stop at nothing to achieve his goal, he can kill the sacrifice of his beloved, and the relationship between him and the villain Feng Daode, mutual use and mutual hostility, shows the blackness and greed of this character;
But at the same time, he faced Hong Xiguan who had sacrificed his life many times in the past to rescue him, and he had a hint of guilt in his heart, so he was unwilling to tear his face with Hong Xiguan at the beginning, and this portrayal of the struggle between human nature is something that many martial arts dramas can't do now.
As for other supporting roles in the play, such as Hasado played by Luo Lie and the villain Shuoto played by Wu Tingye, they are also impressive.
Overall, the supporting roles of this drama are more brilliant than the main characters.
This has led to the core protagonist of the play, Hong Xiguan, who is somewhat unremarkable, as the first male protagonist, the role of Hong Xiguan does not have a distinct personality, and the progress of his relationship with the heroine is basically to rely on the screenwriter to write the dead male and female second, which is simply routine to no, and the key growth of the role of Hong Xiguan is sometimes inexplicably omitted.
For example, Hong Xiguan did not die after being poisoned, and after going online again, he actually made rapid progress in martial arts, and the process of saving the Enlightenment Dao in the middle was only taken by a few lines of the character, giving people a very abrupt feeling.
This may also be the reason why this drama, as Zhen Zidan's first episode in ATV, did not affect the later "Jingwumen".
