Sega establishes the second Japanese development base "Sapporo Studio"

Sega currently has a number of in-house development studios in Japan, including Sonic Team and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, all based in Tokyo, and the new studio will be located in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan.

According to the new company's website, the studio will take on multiple roles, including "development, design, commissioning, sales, import and export of game hardware and software" and "product planning, production and sales".

Sega Sapporo will be led by Takaya Segawa, who joined Sega in 1992 as a designer and is the lead producer of Dreamstar Online 2 New Origins.
