Post: Villa will beat Chelsea, Newcastle and West Ham to sign Everton defender Digne

According to the Daily Mail, Villa will sign Everton defender Digne.

On Sunday night, Willa's talks with Everton made progress and they are now ahead of Newcastle, West Ham and Chelsea in the Dines battle.

Gerrard hopes the 28-year-old will add more experience to his relatively young backline. Villa had considered adding winger Elgazi to the deal, but Everton wanted direct cash.

It is reported that Digne is eager to go to Villa to work with Gerrard, who has agreed to sign Coutinho on loan this summer.

Dinier's relationship with Everton boss Benitez broke down and the French defender has not played since the 4-1 defeat to Liverpool on December.

Digne joined Everton in 2018 on a transfer fee of £18 million. He made 127 appearances for the Toffee during his time with the team, and in this winter window, Everton have signed Miklenko to replace him.

In addition to Digne, Villa also features Brighton's Bissoma and Dundee's defender Kerr Smith. Brighton priced the peso horse for £50m and Villa offered Kerr-Smith £800,000.
