On 5 January, Uli Hoeness, former president of Bayern and chairman of the Supervisory Board, celebrated his 70th birthday.
Currently Honorary President and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bayern, Hoeness joined Bayern Munich in 1970 and retired early in 1979 due to injury.
Since 1 May 1979, Hoeness has been Bayern Manager, Director and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bayern Sport from 2002 to 2009, Chairman of Bayern's Supervisory Board from 2010 to 2014, 2017 to 2019 and President of Bayern Twice from 2015 to 2019.
In December 2019, Hoeness officially stepped down from office and handed over the baton to former Adidas CEO Herbert Heina.
Thanks to the efforts of friends such as Hoeness and Rummenigge, Bayern grew into a European giant. During his management tenure in Hoeness, Bayern won two Champions League titles (2000-01, 2012-13), 21 Bundesliga titles, 12 German Cups, 1 Club World Cup and other honors, and Hoeness won 1 World Cup and 1 European Cup with Germany.
