On January 4, Beijing time, according to Tennishead, British tennis doubles star Jamie Murray hinted that Novak Djokovic may have obtained a medical exemption to participate in the Australian Open without vaccination, thus receiving preferential treatment.

The Serb has announced via social media that he is on his way to Australia after receiving a "waiver" to compete in Melbourne.

"I had a great time with my loved ones during my vacation, and today I will be travelling to Australia with a waiver." Djokovic wrote.

"Let's go 2022!" The 20-time men's singles Grand Slam champion added.

Tennis Australia subsequently issued a statement further confirming the veracity of the medical exemption.

However, Andy Murray's brother and former men's doubles world number one Jamie Murray hinted that if he applied for a medical exemption himself, he might not get it.

According to journalist Simon Cambers, the Briton said: "I don't think if it were me, without vaccination, I wouldn't have gotten a (medical) exemption." ”

"But clearing [all] the hurdles so he could come to Australia was a pretty good job."

"Ultimately, you kind of have to believe that he [Djokovic] does have a valid reason to get a medical exemption."

Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley explained before Djokovic was granted a medical exemption that he knew some players had already been granted medical exemptions and could play in grand slams.

"We know that some athletes have applied for a (medical) waiver, and in some cases, it has been approved." He revealed on Australian television.
