Pingdi is an ancient village with a long history in Dali Town, Nanhai, and the Huang Clan Ancestral Hall in Pingdi Central Village was listed as a provincial cultural relics protection unit in 2008, and the "Pingdi Huang's Winter Festival" was selected into the Foshan Municipal Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
The 79-year-old Huang Hanwei is a villager in Pingdi Village and the inheritor of the Foshan Municipal Intangible Cultural Heritage Project of the "Pingdi Huang's Winter Festival". Since the 1980s, he has been actively involved in the traditional folk culture activities of Pingdi, and this time he has made great contributions to the collection of information and contacts for the "Seal of Pingdi".
In his view, the book truly reflects the historical changes and the style of the times in Pingdi, "there are many excellent traditional folk activities in Pingdi, with the development of the times, the five major intangible cultural heritage projects of 'Pingdi Huang's Winter Festival', 'Guanyin Birthday Parade', 'Pure Chinese Music Art', 'Guangdong Awakening Lion' and 'Maibian Dragon Dance' have all integrated the elements of the times and rejuvenated with new vitality."
Huang Hanwei told reporters that when it comes to the traditional folk activities of Pingdi, it is necessary to mention the "Pingdi Huang's Winter Festival". As the saying goes, "Winter New Year", for the Huang clan people in the central village of Pingdi, the significance of the winter solstice is even more special. The annual "Pingdi Huang Clan Winter Festival" is held on the winter solstice day, when thousands of Huang clan people from home and abroad gather together to remember the merits of their ancestors and share the friendship of their hometown. In addition to the sacrifice ceremony, more than 100 elderly people of the Huang clan who are over 60 years old wear traditional dresses to take a group photo, and everyone also participates in the friendship dinner inside and outside the ancestral hall to inherit the virtue of loving the elderly and respecting the elderly.

According to reports, in the past, the Pingdi Huang clan had three festivals of spring, autumn and winter every year, and the autumn festival was cancelled during the Xianfeng period, and only the spring and winter festivals were held, and continued for hundreds of years. From the early 1950s to the 1990s, the Pingdi Huang's Winter Festival was suspended, and in 2005, the Huang Clan in Pingdi Central Village resumed the Winter Festival.
