At about 10 o'clock on January 1, warm sunlight sprinkled on the Wugang International Terminal in Yangluo Port.

The collection truck loaded with containers stopped under the red gantry crane, and the crane "grabbed" a container weighing more than 20 tons on the collection card and slowly hoisted it to the "Huasheng 099" freighter for only 30 seconds.

At 2 p.m., the cargo ship "Huasheng 099" that was loaded set sail, becoming the first cargo ship issued by Yangluo Port in 2022, unveiling the prelude to Yangluo Port's 2022 sprint "opening red".

In and out of the two wang, the pier 24 hours operation

In three hours, the collection truck shuttled back and forth, the gantry crane moved rapidly, and the container in the 105-meter-long, 5,000-ton "Huasheng 099" cabin increased to 146.

Scanning the code, putting ship pollutants into the garbage bin, the 45-year-old captain Bao Guangrong sighed, the current dock is greener and smarter - loading fast, container intelligent gate system, so that the average time of the collection card vehicle to pass the gate from the previous 160 seconds to 30 seconds, ship pollutants delivery to achieve automatic sorting.

"Going back and forth between Shanghai and Wuhan has not been idle since the end of last year." Bao Guangrong said that the "Huasheng 099" had just arrived at Yangluo Port from the Waigaoqiao port area in Shanghai, and immediately after unloading, it began to be loaded on the ship.

At about 14:00, with a whistle, the "Huasheng 099", which was full of non-woven fabrics and other goods from Hubei, set sail and sailed down the river to Shanghai.

Looking at the cargo ships along the coast where all four berths are full and are loading and unloading containers, Yu Liqi, manager of the international operation department of Wugang Port, said that since December last year, the cargo throughput here has risen sharply, from the previous "ship waiting for cargo" to "cargo waiting for ship". "This indicates that Hubei will continue last year's wonderful and steady progress this year."

On January 1, five more ships lined up at the anchorage to unload their cargo, and the terminal is now in continuous operation 24 hours a day, and it is expected to lift 1,000 containers a day. Wugang International works closely with shipping companies to improve the accuracy and guidance of day and night plans and reduce the waiting time of ships.

Multimodal transport, opening up the "last mile"

On the river, boats come and go. On the dock yard, there are many "container mountains" more than ten meters high.

According to the relevant person in charge of Sinotrans Hubei Co., Ltd., which belongs to "Huasheng 099", the first cargo of the day was mainly non-woven fabrics produced in Xiantao, as well as canned food and auto parts produced in Hubei.

The non-woven fabrics used for the production of masks and protective clothing were loaded on ships at Wugang International Xiantao Port, flowing down the Han River to the Yangtze River, "water and water intermodal transport" directly to Yangluo Port and loaded on ships, and other goods were loaded into ships through the way of "public transfer water".

Multimodal transport can improve transportation efficiency by about 30% and reduce transportation costs by about 20%. In June last year, Hubei issued a three-year action plan for the high-quality development of multimodal transport, investing 162.3 billion yuan to build 72 key transportation projects of "iron and water". In August, Wuhan COSCO SHIPPING Yangluo International Port Water-Rail Intermodal Port opened for operation, opening up the "last kilometer" of Wuhan Yangluo International Port-Water-Rail Intermodal Transport.

Benefiting from multimodal transport, various goods from Shanghai, Nanjing, Chongqing and other places are distributed through Yangluo Port Terminal. According to Sinotrans, in 2021, the company's cargo throughput at wugang international terminal reached 95,000 TEUs, an increase of 20% year-on-year, including Hubei crayfish, tea, medical supplies, electronic products, etc., which have been transported to other places through water, and even crossed the ocean and gone abroad.

According to statistics, in 2020, the proportion of water transportation in the province will reach 25.99%.
