Start with Stanley Kubrick

Author/Li Wanhua

Xin Ugly, who has been reading a book called "The Filmmaker Closest to God: The Last 30 Years of Stanley Kubrick's Life." The author Emilio tells the story of Kubrick's last 30 years of life in chronological order.

What Stanley Kubrick admires most is the diversity of his film styles and subject matter. He has made few films in his lifetime, 13 films, except for three in his early years, from "The Road of Glory" to the last "Eye OpenEr", its themes are by no means the same, and several of them are unsurpassed in various genres.

The most important thing I appreciate about Stanley Kubrick is that he never repeats himself. From this, I thought about my own writing, as if I was learning from him, consciously or unconsciously.

Because I didn't want to repeat it, most of the words I wrote this year were more similar to notes. A book, a movie, a tune, a dream, a poem, or just a moment of everyday life, triggered by a little feeling, a thought, I write them down. The text is short, even scattered, not long," and not elaborately conceived. Just casually, casually remembered. This way makes people think that writing is an interesting thing.

In addition, there are also some short articles on ecology. Ecology is an important factor that we cannot ignore, and a writer must have a minimum of ecological consciousness. Confined to the body, I can't go deep into nature for a long time to do research, but the attention has never stopped. Therefore, some of the words I have written about nature express my respect for the spirits of all beings with a flat-eyed and reciprocal attitude.

With my inherent curiosity, writing still has the potential to suddenly turn and challenge, and if I practice, I am also learning from Stanley Kubrick.
