Deserved! Djokovic beat Lewandowski Vistappen as Europe's Athlete of the Year

On December 26, Beijing time, according to the official website of the Belgian "Brussels Times", ATP is now the world's first Novak Djokovic was selected by the European press agencies as the best athlete in Europe in 2021.

The selection of the 64th European Athlete of the Year was organized by the Polish News Agency (PPA), with the 26 most important European news organizations acting as judges.

Djokovic, 34, scored a total of 172 points in the selection, 39 points ahead of last year's winner, Bayern star Robert Lewandowski. Dutch driver and F1 champion Max Verstappen finished third.

This is the fourth time a Serbian star has won the award, having won three awards in 2011, 2015 and 2018, and this year he has won it again with five titles, including three Grand Slams and one Masters.

Djokovic narrowly won the "Golden Slam of the Year" and "Grand Slam of the Year" in the 2021 season – he won consecutive Men's Singles titles at the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon, but lost key matches at the postponed Tokyo Olympics and the US Open afterwards.

Of course, these victories still made him the second person in the history of tennis to have won a Grand Slam (also known as the Surface Slam) in the same calendar year (January 1 to December 31 in the Gregorian calendar) on three different venues of red clay, grass and hard courts.
