In the late 1940s, a 62-year-old man in Ji'an, Jiangxi Province, was "pushed" onto the public trial square by the people. At this point, the "number one enemy" of Jinggangshan, who had been "worried" by our leaders for 20 years, was finally brought to justice on the spot, and this bandit who brutalized 3,000 people finally got his due retribution.

So, who is this number one enemy? What did he do? Let the toiling people applaud his death? With these questions in mind, let's tell today's story.
On November 11, 1949, after a public trial, the Suichuan County People's Government pronounced a verdict, and Xiao Jiabi was sentenced to death and immediately executed. When the people who participated in the public trial heard this result, they were overjoyed. Then the gunshots rang out, and the people returned to the west.
That night, the local government telegraphed the results to Beijing, saying: "Xiao Jiabi, the enemy of the people, has been publicly executed today, and the people applauded at this news."

Xiao Jiabi was born in 1887 in Suichuan County, Jiangxi Province, and his father was a well-known local wealthy businessman. Therefore, when he was seven or eight years old, he was sent to the local higher school to study, and later studied at the Political Science and Law College in Nanchang.

After graduating from the Political Science and Law School, he continued to study at the Jiangxi Provincial Higher Agricultural School, from which Xiao Jiabi graduated in 1911 at the age of 24.
Since then, it has gradually become a terrible figure of "stop the children crying at night", so what really happened during this period?

It turned out that because of his father's status, Xiao Jiabi had been known by many high-ranking officials since he was a child. After being admitted to the Higher Agricultural School, he suddenly had the idea of entering the local bureaucracy.
So under his father's dot and himself "brushed his face". He passed all the way through the "green light", from the general of the Dakeng Township Defense Regiment to the county senate president. Soon after, he defected to the Kuomintang and took up the post of major general of the Suichuan First Column in Suijing District.

The consequence of the rapid rise was to inflate his selfish desires, and on the pretext of resisting the peasant revolt, he gathered the gentry to form an armed force in a vain attempt to dominate the township.

After becoming an official, he fell into the vicious habit of forming gangs and factions, and constantly bought weapons, expanded his men and horses, and even bullied the people and robbed food, and gradually became a local bully. With increasing ambitions, he naturally did not want to go back to school to be bound, and it was inevitable that he would eventually end up in a bad job.
In 1927, after the "April 12" coup. On the evening of 21 July, the Kuomintang led more than a thousand people to launch the "Ma-Ri Incident" in Changsha, raiding many revolutionary organizations of our party and maiming more than a hundred outstanding people of our party.
Xiao Jiabi, on the other hand, took advantage of this incident to arrest and kill our party workers on a large scale as chairman of the Suichuan "Qing Party Committee," and even did not hesitate to mutilate many innocent people.
The Ma-Ri Incident
In September of the same year, our Party led the Autumn Harvest Uprising, and at the subsequent meeting it was decided that all the Autumn Harvest troops would march into Jinggangshan, establish a revolutionary base area, and determine the road of "encircling the cities by the countryside and seizing power by force", and at the same time put forward the slogan of "fighting the local tyrants and dividing up the land".
Xiao Jiabi was originally "stubborn" with our party because of the previous wanton killing, but now after hearing our party's slogan, his heart is more and more uneasy.
He felt that these rules and regulations were clearly aimed at himself, and he himself was bound to become the target of our party's crackdown. Therefore, he felt more and more that he could not sit still. He "needed" to teach the team a lesson on the journey to Jinggangshan.
Divide the fields
After Xiao Jiabi found out our party's marching route, he led his men to ambush in the Luoxiao Mountain area. On the other side, the autumn harvest troops were tired all the way, so they decided to rest in a small town.
Just when the soldiers were drowsy, they were attacked by Xiao Jiabi's troops, and in an instant, our troops were scattered. Our army can only be divided into two parts.
Some part broke out, the other part stayed behind to continue fighting, and finally under the loss of more than 50 soldiers, our army desperately killed a bloody road. However, after this battle, Xiao Jiabi did not stop there.
At dawn on October 23 of the same year, the Autumn Harvest Troops had just arrived in Dafen Town, Suichuan County, jinggangshan area, when they were again attacked by guns. Our fighters were forced to rush into battle and suffered heavy losses.

After this battle, the soldiers of our army hated Xiao Jiabi to the bone, but the news of Xiao Jiabi's evil deeds again and again continued to reach the ears of the soldiers.
On January 4, 1928, the leader of our party led his troops into Suichuan, set up an ambush in Dakeng to annihilate one of his troops, successfully extinguished his vigor and severely taught him a lesson. Xiao Jiabi became angry and swore to fight against our army to the end.
Xiao Jiabi, who had been severely damaged, was determined to expand his troops and recover his vitality. After stabilizing his forces, he eagerly began to attack the Red Army and the guerrillas, persecute our Party members, and carry out crazy revenge on our army.
In a sneak attack, he killed more than 30 cadres and members of the peasant association, and even mutilated old heroes who were over the age of flower armor.
In May 1928, the leader of our party, who could not bear it, decided to eliminate the bandits headed by Xiao Jiabi. After hearing this news, Xiao Jiabi quickly led a large army to hide in the mountains, waiting for the Red Army to leave, and then came out to do evil.
In the second half of 1928, when 30,000 Kuomintang troops invaded the Jinggangshan area, Xiao Jiabi took the initiative to cooperate with the Kuomintang's actions and actively betrayed the traces of our party.
But our army was not defeated, but in the face of adversity, it repeatedly achieved excellent results of winning more with less. In January 1929, due to the needs of revolutionary development, our Party had to lead a large number of troops to withdraw from Jinggangshan, leaving only a small part of the troops to stay in the base area.
After Xiao Jiabi learned of this news, he believed that this was the best time to "eradicate" the Red Army at Jinggangshan Mountain. So he led the Jingwei Regiment to unite with the reactionary regular army to carry out the encirclement and suppression of Jinggangshan.
He shouted that "the land of Jinggangshan should be replaced by people, the land should be changed to grain, the thatch should be overheated, and the stones should be cut three times", and even practiced the cruel behavior of killing once every 3 days and burning once every 5 days.
After Hu Jiabi, chairman of our military government in Suichuan County, was arrested by Xiao Jiabi, Xiao Jiabi tortured him to death with extreme cruelty and hung his head on the Suichuan bridge.
On another occasion, more than 120 wounded and sick members of the Red Army were shot en masse in Xiaojing, more than 130 innocent people were also brutally killed, and more than 2,000 people's houses were burned down. At the same time, Xiao Jiabi also carried out economic plunder on the masses of the people, maliciously drawing taxes and levying taxes on the main roads from the county town to the market towns.
Finally, according to statistics, in the Jinggangshan area, they killed more than 3,000 Red Army people, including the wounded and sick and relatives of the Red Army left behind when the Red Army withdrew.
In the villages within a radius of 40 miles of Jinggangshan, they were all "burned" by Xiao Jiabi, and in addition to killing people, they also set fires everywhere, burning more than 5,000 houses.
After 1949, our army began to encircle and suppress all reactionary forces, and Xiao Jiabi was the number one target, and at this time the defeat of the Kuomintang was already decided, and it was difficult to reverse the situation.
And Xiao Jiabi also knew that he was about to be in a big disaster, but he was not willing to tie his hands and capture it, so he had been fighting against our army.
The crimes committed by Xiao Jiabi were indignant, and if he was not arrested, he was simply sorry for the sacrificial Red Army and the people, so the superior issued a death order that Xiao Jiabi must be captured alive, and this order was almost doomed to Xiao Jiabi's end.
The team that captured Xiao Jiabi alive, with the 425th Regiment of the 142nd Division as the main force and the county public security team, Xiao Jiabi was very scared after hearing such information, because he did not expect that in order to arrest himself, the state had actually dispatched so many troops.
The remaining bandits in the local area, as soon as they heard this information, also knew that the People's Liberation Army was threatening and frightened. However, Xiao Jiabi was not dead hearted, and still hid in the deep mountains and old forests with more than 20 retinues, trying to make a comeback after passing the limelight.
On September 28, Xiao Jiabi's wish was shattered and he was captured alive.
On November 11, 1949, more than 40,000 people in JinggangShan District gathered in Shuinan Grand Square in Suichuan County to watch the public trial meeting. After the public trial, Xiao Jiabi was dragged to the river beach for execution, and then there was the opening scene.
