New Women's Daily: Please combine your own identity or industry to talk about the changes in women in the past 20 years.
Liang Mingyu: As a costume designer and visual artist, I am very sensitive to people's dress and visual image. 20 years ago, that is, around the new millennium, when Chinese women and 40 years ago the same state of dress has been completely different, began to bloom a hundred flowers, have a deeper and broader understanding of fashion, brand, taste, clothing consumption has also improved. Clothing is the landscape of society, and from a sociological point of view, this shows that China has entered a state of relatively developed economy and relatively free choice of consumer culture.
New Women's Daily: In your impression, which female highlight moments in the past 20 years have brought female strength and inspiration?
Liang Mingyu: More than 10 years ago, I participated in an art exhibition called "1/2 Space", which is about half of the human world being supported by women. Women contribute more to society than men, and they never shrink back because of their gender, which is the great thing about women.
At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, when I was the lead costume designer for the opening and closing ceremonies, and the only female designer, I was fully dedicated and would not ask for less tasks because I was a woman. In fact, many excellent women sacrifice themselves in ordinary careers to light up others, such as Teacher Zhang Guimei, who has done everything for poor rural girls, just like Mother Teresa. The sublimeness of human nature is absolute love and dedication, forgetting oneself, and this is the state of saints.
New Women's Daily: Talk about what you expect from women in the next 20 years?
Liang Mingyu: Women should be independent and free, and they should also care for society, life and the ecological environment. They do, and they drive men and children to do the same.
