Lin Musen, the permanent conductor of the Chengdu Symphony Orchestra, said that due to the epidemic, the performance originally scheduled for November has also been postponed to today, and the long-lost offline performance has made him look forward to it. "Because we have gone through almost two years from the preparation of the orchestra to today's premiere, it is a very tortuous and difficult process, so we are very pleased to participate in this concert today, and the orchestra can present our efforts and hard work in such a way as a concert today according to the original plan, and everyone's mood is very excited and very emotional."

Conductor Lin Musen: We completed an almost impossible task

When asked by reporters what special considerations were given to the selection of music for tonight's concert, Lin Musen said. "As the first concert of this year's Chengdu Symphony Orchestra Music Season, we selected Beethoven's works, first of all, because Beethoven is the most representative composer of classical music, then we chose his seventh symphony today, which is also a very joyful, dance-oriented, celebratory and cheerful atmosphere of a symphony work, so the selection of music is also in line with the theme of our first 'joyful dance'."

"Secondly, our choice of Beethoven also represents the professionalization and regularization of our symphony orchestra from the beginning of the first performance, and in order to achieve the high level of expectations given by everyone, in Beethoven's works, we have selected The Seventh Symphony, which has the most enthusiastic atmosphere in Beethoven."

Lin Musen revealed that the preparation of tonight's concert is a very difficult challenge for the newly formed Chengdu Symphony Orchestra, "Usually the formation of a new symphony orchestra, according to the past practice, it may first focus on training for 10 days, 15 days or even longer, through the rehearsal of the voice part, the training of the group, and then there will be a final presentation." But our concert was so intensely focused because of the pandemic that we only went through three days of rehearsals in December, when the time was very tight. For a new orchestra, I think it's an impossible task to some extent, but our performers have done their best and overcome the difficulties, so I'm sure tonight's presentation will surprise the audience. ”

Lin Musen said that the next two performances of the music season and the New Year's concert at the end of the year are also very worth looking forward to, "Because our orchestra has just begun to form, and I believe that through the three concerts of the music season, everyone can run into a more tacit understanding, our official premiere will be the New Year concert on December 29 this year, and we hope that we can present a complete and high-quality performance to the audience in Chengdu." Starting next year, we will launch a series of music season performance plans more standardized, and the orchestra will gradually get on track, so today, I believe it is a very good starting point. ”
