On May 22, 2018, Sky Sports Italia reported that Rena and three other players who had played for Napoli were accused of being involved in the mafia party Organization Camorra.

The case has now been brought before the Federal National Court of the Italian Football Federation, and the other two players involved are Paulo Cannavaro, who is currently playing for Sassuolo, and Salvatore Aronica, who is playing for Palermo.
They were charged with three economic criminals, Gabriel Esposto, Francesco Esposto and Giuseppe Espoo, all of whom were indicted for suspicious business practices.
Born in the 17th century and rooted in Naples, Camorra is one of the three most famous mafia in Italy.
