Iranian state television reported on June 19 that preliminary statistics from Iran's 13th presidential election show that Iran's judicial director, Ibrahim Lahi, won the election to become the new President of Iran. The 60-year-old Laisi entered the Iranian judicial system in the 1980s, holding various senior judicial positions and has served as Iran's judicial director since 2019. During the campaign, Lacey promised to deal with Iran's economic woes and expressed support for Iran to restart negotiations with the six major powers on a nuclear deal.
