Lukashenko is known as the "father" in Belarus for his long presidency and seniority. Recently, the power struggle between the authorities and the opposition, And Lukashenko and a woman, the leader of the opposition, has intensified over the dispute over the outcome of the presidential election in Belarus.

This woman is Tikhanovskaya, full name: Svetlana Georgyevna Tikhanovskaya. It should be said that without this presidential election, she may still be working as a professional translator in Belarus, and the presidential election has made her famous all over the world!

What kind of person is she? Svetlana Georgievna Tikhanovskaya was born on September 11, 1982, to a family in the town of Mikasevic in Brest Oblast, Republic of Belarus, USSR.

Childhood and early years

Svetlana was born in Micashevich and has a population of a little over 12,000. In the mid-1980s, the town was affected by the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, and within 2 kilometers, the pollution density ranged from 1 to 15 curies.

Svetlana's mother,Pyriptjuks, never left Micashevich, and the little girl went to a local school and graduated with a gold medal.

After graduating from high school, she went to the Linguistics Department of the Moziri Normal University in the neighbouring Gomel Oblast to study English and German.

Svetlana doesn't like to talk about her parents, only in a 2020 interview where she revealed they were retired but still working. She explained that the reason for her reluctance to bring up the parental topic was the fear that the authorities or political opponents would take action against them.

After graduating from university, Svetlana moved to Gomel, where she worked as an English translator at a different institution. Meanwhile, the girl who suffered from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident also works for an Irish charity to help the victims of the accident.

Political career

Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, in her own words, has long been uninterested in politics. She admitted that she had voted when she turned 18, but had only "wanted to find the feeling of an adult" and had not been elected since. Her husband, a well-known web blogger, changed in May 2020 when he was denied registration by the Central Election Commission. Immediately Svetlana herself submitted her application to the Central Election Commission. Five days later, the Central Election Commission accepted her request to register for the election.

Svetlana later said, "Registering her (purely) is for mockery. She explained her thoughts in such a way that even Alexander Lukashenko himself believed that no one would vote for the woman. Sergey became head of campaign headquarters but was soon detained. The incident took place in Grodno, where the signatures of supporting Tikhanovskaya were collected. The candidate's husband was detained for "seriously disturbing public order" (he was charged with "obstructing the elections" in June). At the Tikhanovskaya campaign headquarters "staff members who collect signatures all over Belarus were arrested". According to Svetlana, she herself received intimidating phone calls threatening her and her children unless she gave up her campaign.

The authorities' "actions" did not stop people from lining up to nominate an opposition candidate. On 30 June 2020, a woman submitted her registration documents for the Belarusian presidential candidates to the Central Election Commission, and two weeks later she was registered with the Central Election Commission. Two days later, representatives of Tikhanovskaya's campaign headquarters met with their counterparts— defenders of the interests of Victor Barbariko and Valery Sepkalo, who failed to pass the central electoral commission's presidential candidacy. It was expected at the time that if Tikhanovskaya won, a second election would be held, at which time all opposition candidates would be allowed to participate.

On July 20, 2020, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya made her first appearance on state radio, claiming that she was running for president because of her husband's arrest. In July, Svetlana also addressed all citizens twice on the "Belarusian 1" channel. Her speech was broadcast live. In her speech, she talked about the low ranking of the current president, the true situation of the coronavirus, the termination of what looks like the "last dictator of Europe" and the abandonment of the (Russian-Belarusian) alliance countries.

At the end of July, Tikhanovskaya organized a protest in minsk's People's Friendship Park. The rally, which was attended by 70,000 people, was the largest since 1991.

On August 6 (three days before the election), the rally in Bangalore Square was thwarted by the authorities, and the alternative operation in kiev's street garden was also blocked by the Minsk police, and Svetlana Tikhanovskaya and her colleagues were prevented from entering the street garden.

Election Day

On 9 August, belarus held presidential elections. According to data released by the Central Election Commission, the current head of state, Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko, beat all competitors with more than 80 percent support. Tikhanovskaya's approval rating was 9.9% (second place) and the approval rating of the other three candidates did not exceed 2%. The turnout was 84.23%.

The punished blogger's wife disagreed with the election results. She claimed to be the winner, adding that her campaign headquarters had different vote statistics, so her team was determined to "prove all the irregularities." As the Data from the Central Election Commission contradicts that of independent media, which argues that Tikhanovskaya's approval rating is close to 87 percent and only 4 percent support for Lukashenko, people have begun to talk about large-scale electoral fraud.

In many cities in Belarus, people began taking to the streets in protest, with news reports of explosion-proof police beating civilians trying to express their dissatisfaction with the election results. On August 11, 2020, Lithuania's foreign minister announced that Svetlana had left Belarus and gone to Lithuania. He noted that the presidential candidate was detained for 7 hours by law enforcement officers before leaving.

Private life

Svetlana met her husband, Sergei Tihanovsky, while in college. He was studying at Gomel University, named after Franzisk Skrina, and after graduation began to do business, opening a nightclub in Moziri called "Club 55". Svetlana met Sergey in her senior year, and according to her words, the two fell in love at first sight.

Sergey and Svetlana have two children: a son born in 2010 and a daughter born in 2016. In the summer of 2020, children were transferred from Belarus to an EU country because their families were "threatened". Natalia Ladina, editor-in-chief of Charter 97, helped Tichanovsky in this regard.

Unlike Sergey, who is famous on the video network, his wife did not open a personal account on the video photo sharing app network. In July 2020, the official website of the presidential candidate was opened, on which the platform can be read, but it has now been turned off.

End

If, if, we mean, if Tikhanovskaya succeeds, can he govern a country well with his origins, experience and qualifications, a professional translator with no leadership and management experience? We are deeply skeptical of this. The motives of the Western countries to express their strong solidarity and vigorous support are obviously not pure, and where is it for the sake of the Belarusian people!

Wake up, those Belarusians who are obsessed with street fights and rallies and protests, continue, can only be a bitter vendetta, Ukraine's today may be your tomorrow!
