Hoffenheim announced in advance this season that Nagelsmann will take charge of the team in the summer of 2016, and if the veteran coach Stevens can once again turn decay into magic, Nagelsmann will become the youngest manager in Bundesliga history.
Bayern had wanted to invite Nagelsmann to coach their youth team, but the latter clearly had high ambitions. Bayern now also has a successful example of juvenile fame, which is Pauls, who has just turned 23 and has become the head of scouting in the Bayern youth team, responsible for selecting players under the age of 16 for the club.
Bayern's doing so is by no means sensationalism, and Hoeness, who has been working in the academy department recently, is very optimistic about Pauls' ability. When he was 16 years old, Pauls had already begun to try to do scouting. Before he reached the legal age to get a driver's license, Pauls traveled around by train and bus. By that time, Pauls had ended his playing career early and was instead concentrating on scouting players to analyze the game.
Can you imagine a picture like this? A youth game, the young players in the stands, but also a scout who is still in the age of the rainy season? Pauls was already working for Munich 1860 at the age of 16. Five years later, Pauls chose to leave and volunteered for a year of social work before coming to Bayern to study a dual-track curriculum (a German system that combines vocational education with higher education). Now that he has a job with Bayern, Pauls still has to go to class in the morning to continue his course.
Pauls' talent lies in his unique insights, good at organization and management, not only able to observe the game well, but also to listen to each other's ideas, which is very important when communicating with the parents of young players. Discovering talent is first and foremost a hobby for Pauls. Although Pauls was young, he was already well connected in German football, not only working with Jean in 1860, but he also interned in Hanover for a while and met Tanat, who was playing there at the time. Yung and Tanat, the two youth coaches who had just left Bayern before, were very appreciative of Pauls.
In fact, at the age of 16, Pauls once wrote a cover letter to Bayern, but unfortunately he did not get a reply. Pauls later worked not only for the 1860 club, but also for the FT Gern club, the parent team of Bayern captain Ram, whose mother Daniela still works here today, and encouraged Pauls to go to the bigger clubs for opportunities.
Speaking of scouting, it's really a lot of work for young people. Darmstadt's two scouts, Schuster and Franz, whose sons are the team's head coach and assistant coach. The two old men are not regular employees of the club, but they are quite motivated to work and still submit evaluation reports by traditional fax. Not only for the team, but also for the son, the old scout is always young.
