Liu Wenliang was born in 1940 in Xincheng, Gaobeidian City, Hebei Province.
In 1954, at the age of 14, he learned to sing and comment on opera, focusing on Hua Dan. A short paragraph of "Little Son-in-Law" at the time of registration surprised the examiners.
In 1960, he studied under The Tianjin cross-talk artist Guan Chunshan. Changing to cross-talk is mainly to reverse the warehouse, even if it is changed from Hua Dan to Xiaosheng, it is no longer possible to sing and comment. But the basic skills of judging plays are still there, so the "willow life" of crosstalk is good. Funny to say, Liu Wenliang wanted to worship Guan Chunshan as a teacher, but because he was shy and did not dare to say it in person, he bought a fifty-cent rice strip wrapped in yellow paper, wrote "I want to worship you as a teacher, I will certainly not embarrass you", and then put it on the windowsill of Guan Chunshan. At that time, Guan Chunshan went to Tianjin to perform after receiving the note, and when he saw Liu Wenliang again two years later, he said: "I received the note you wrote for me, and you are my apprentice." I'll give you a name, Liu Wenliang. "The introducer of the pendulum is Yu Baolin, and the baoshi is Feng Baohua.
The reason why he is called Liu Wenliang is because Guan Chunshan has two other apprentices, one is called Wenguang and the other is called Civilization. It is such a coincidence in the cross-talk industry that there is a cross-talk actor of the written generation named Wei Wenliang, and in addition, Gao Wenyuan's three children are also named after "light, light, and light". Guan Chunshan's admonition to Liu Wenliang was "to go on stage like a fierce tiger, and to get off stage like a sheep", that is to say, to play with your life on the stage and be honest when you get off the stage.
In 1963, Liu Wenliang went to jilin qu art troupe to work, and successively cooperated with Lu Weiguo, Zhou Zhiguang and others, which was quite influential. He and Zhou Zhiguang said that "Qin Xianglian" is more famous, and the commentary is mixed in cross-talk, which is an innovation. Zhou Zhiguang and Liu Wenliang are said to be brothers, and both of them learned from Wang Fengshan.

Liu Wenliang is good at learning to sing, his speaking skills are clear and bright, his language is sweet and fat-free, and he has become famous in the northeast cross-talk industry. Liu Wenliang, Shi Shengjie, and Yang Zhenhua are also known as the "Three Tigers of Northeast China" in the cross-talk industry.
In June 1976, the new song "Ode to Haihe" created by Liu Wenliang participated in the National Qu art show and was very successful.
In 1984, Liu Wenliang was transferred from Jilin in northeast China to the Hebei Provincial Qu Art Troupe, and successively cooperated with Yang Guitian, Yuan Zhonghai, Li Zengman and others.
In the early 1990s, the Yanshan big board "Yellow Map Wall Tung Oil Lamp", "Step by Step", "Solemn Moment" and other programs recorded on Hebei Radio were broadcast one after another, which had a wide impact inside and outside the industry.
In April 1993, he won the honorary title of "Top Ten Crosstalk" in the selection activity of "Hebei Top Ten Xiangsheng" jointly organized by Hebei Qu Artists Association, Hebei Radio Station, Hebei Television Station and other units.
Liu Wenliang is upright, rigorous, and supports future generations. He Yuejin, former head of the Hebei Heart to Heart Art Troupe, spoke highly of Liu Wenliang: "He is very serious, for example, tonight's performance, he will memorize his own words for a day, and eat less." After the performance, he will drink some wine and eat some supper. "If a young actor isn't doing well in performance, he'll point it out directly, but definitely for your own good." He has always stressed that he must be worthy of the audience, and this spirit is worth learning from young people. ”
On May 20, 2020, Liu Wenliang died of illness in Shijiazhuang at the age of 81.
Liu Wenliang has a deep and solid foundation, a high-pitched and rounded voice, mellow and sweet, a handsome typhoon, and is good at performing the liuhuo program of learning to sing. His representative works include "Commentary on Drama", "Qin Xianglian", "Drama and Life", "Liu Qiao'er and Dou Erdun", "Spring in the World" and so on.
Liu Wenliang received Ma Honghai, Liu Hongjiang, Yang Hongbin, Han Xiao, Wang Zhenhua and others.
