From September 15th to 22nd, Chen Yuguo, President of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, led a delegation to visit Karolinska Institutet in Sweden, the University of Bergen in Norway and Imperial Polytechnic London in the United Kingdom and their affiliated hospitals to further explore cooperation in scientific research and personnel exchanges, and held talent exchange fairs in Karolinska, Sweden and London, England.
From 16 to 17 September, the delegation visited Karolinska Institutet and its affiliated New Karolinska Hospital and Daderyd Hospital in Sweden. In a discussion with Professor Anders Gustafsson and Professor Robert Harris, two vice presidents of Karolinska Institutet, Chen Yuguo said that the cooperation between Qilu Hospital of Shandong University and Karolinska Institutet in Sweden began in 2003 and has made many achievements in the past 16 years. It is hoped that on the existing basis, scientific research cooperation can be expanded into a comprehensive cooperation between basic, clinical and transformational, and new cooperation in scientific research personnel training and mutual visits of clinical personnel can be carried out. Vice-Chancellor Anders Gustafsson said that the existing multidisciplinary substantive cooperation between the two sides has laid a good foundation for future key partnerships, and he is confident about the development of new cooperation.
On September 18, the delegation visited the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Bergen in Norway and its affiliated Haukeland Hospital, and held talks with Per Nakke, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Einvind Hansen, President of the Hospital, and other relevant responsible persons. During the meeting, Chen Yuguo said that the cooperation between the two institutes in the field of brain science was very successful, and many achievements were made in scientific research output, joint training of students and introduction of talents. It is hoped that through this visit, the mutual understanding between the two courts will be deepened and the cooperation will be expanded to more fields. The two sides discussed the possibility of launching new cooperation projects and agreed to send a delegation from the University of Bergen to visit in October to finalize the specific matters of the signing of the cooperation agreement between the two hospitals.
From September 19 to 20, the delegation visited St. George's College London. Mary Hospital and National Center for Cardiopulmonary Research. In St. Dr. Shehan Hettiaratchy, head of Mary Hospital, introduced in detail the hospital's treatment process and the registration, clinical processing and scientific research application system of patient information, and discussed the shortcomings of the two countries in the management and application of patient information and the possibility of improving from each other. At the National Heart and Lung Research Center, the delegation, under the leadership of Professor Lan Zhao, director of the Bioimaging Center, focused on visiting its clinical research institute, conducted a comprehensive understanding of all areas of its clinical research, and learned from each other's advanced experience through in-depth exchanges with the scholars of the center, and obtained the scholars' suggestions for the construction of the clinical research center of Shandong University and the development of clinical research projects, which further prepared for the construction of the center.
During the visit, the delegation held two overseas talent fairs at the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden and the Education Department of the Chinese Embassy in the UK, which attracted more than 70 young scholars, postdoctoral researchers, doctoral students and local alumni. At the meeting, Chen Yuguo introduced the overall situation of the hospital and the strategic development goals of the next step to the participating scholars, expressed the hospital's great importance to scientific research and outstanding talents, and issued a sincere invitation to young talents from famous universities and research institutes to join Qilu Hospital of Shandong University. Lu Ming introduced in detail the current situation of the hospital's scientific research work and the demand for talents, and the relevant personnel of the Personnel Office introduced the hospital's multi-level talent introduction policy. The delegation had in-depth interaction and exchanges with the young scholars attending the meeting on the construction of disciplines, the introduction and development of talents, etc.
