A new Thai airline is hiring transsexual ladyboys as flight attendants, aiming at a unique identity to set itself apart from competitors as it sets out for the skies.
A newly formed airline in Thailand recruited transgender shemales to work as flight attendants, intending to create a unique feature when joining the air services sector and stand out from many competitors.
Ladyboy, translated as katoey in Thai, mainly refers to men who have developed feminine characteristics by taking estrogens since childhood, and are often called "shemale" in Chinese. Some of them have had sex reassignment surgery, which is transgender/transsexual, and a considerable number of them are just transvestites and have male physical characteristics. These people are socially classified as the third gender.
Flight attendants are the "flight attendants" on the plane, both men and women can serve, but people see the airline hostessess (flight attendants), and the "whole crew" including the captain can be represented by cabin crew.
