I have always liked Yokomizu Masashi's eclectic suspense novels, but because the story is often focused on bloody violence, it is always difficult to find a gentle point to start with. Seeing this point of motherly lover, I suddenly came to be inspired, and today I will tell a strange story "Eight Tombs Village" to discuss the extreme motherly lover.
The story is based on the novel by Masashi Yokomichi, the second in the series adapted by Fuji Television in Japan. For the characteristics and background of the author's work, please refer to my previous article (Portal - Prison Gate Island), which will not be repeated here. Let's get into the story right away.
It opens in August of the 23rd year of Showa, when a man sitting on a tatami mat is facing the heavy rain outside the window. He was holding the book "Inuyasha Family" in his hand, and the cigarette butts in the ashtray in front of him were still smoking. The man looked lonely and seemed to be waiting for something. Just then, a dark shadow behind him was reflected on the door.
Our male protagonist, Kazuko Kaneda, opened the door. Dressed in a cloak, his shadow is full of energy, but in reality he is a scrawled long-haired man. The owner of the house is the writer himself described by Masashi Yokogou.
A writer, a detective, a friend and a partner. The two men talked about a recent case that Kaneda was going to take on. A large rural clan, The Tajimi family, because of the withering of their heirs, searches the city for tatsumi, an illegitimate son who has fled with his mother Tsuruko. Just when Tatsumi went to the lawyer's office for the first time to meet his relatives other than his mother--- Grandpa Ugly Pine, a terrible murder gradually began.
When Tatsumi took out the relics of his mother Tsuruko, the old man suddenly spat out blood and fell in front of Tatsumi. When tatsumi returned home in horror, he received a scribbled letter full of desperate curses: "Don't go back to the Eight Tombs Village, or the Eight Tombs gods will be angry." If you come back, blood, blood, the Eight Tombs Village will turn into a sea of blood. ”
The Eight Tombs Village mentioned here involves two stories as the background of the film. One is the curse of the defeated samurai. Legend has it that during the Warring States period, young samurai and seven courtiers who opposed the surrender of the lord of the city carried 3,000 taels of gold and escaped to this ruined village.
Unsuspecting samurai were brutally killed by profit-hungry villagers. In the end, the outnumbered general issued the most vicious curse on the treacherous Tian Zhimi family and the ignorant and greedy villagers who led the massacre.
Since then, strange things have happened in the village, and people with weak hearts have to offer the heads of the samurai for peace. This is also the origin of the name "Eight Tombs Village". And the abyss of evil, three thousand gold has since disappeared into the cave where the samurai are hiding, and there is no more news.
Another story goes back to tatsumi's father, Tatsumi, who killed him more than twenty years ago. Cursed by the samurai, the Tajimi Sho family, after frantically infatuated with and kidnapping Tsuruko, the daughter of the cattle herder Ugly Matsu, became more and more frantic, making Tsuruko, who gave birth to Tatsumi, worse off than dead. Finally, when he wanted to relax, he fled the village with his son, who was only three years old.
On the night of the moonless night, he disguised himself as a samurai and killed thirty-two villagers, fled into the cave where the samurai were hiding, and then his whereabouts became a mystery.
Grandpa's death and threatening letters did not prevent Tatsumi, who was curious about his origins, from returning to Tajimi's house. At this time, the beautiful and fashionable Miyako came to Tatsumi's side and came as a representative to pick up the heir of the Tajimi family. Twenty years later, the cursed Eight Tombs Village will once again stage a terrifying killing.
Tatsumi returned to his hometown, and in the mansion where his mother's pain and tears were buried, his longing for her reached its peak. At Miyako's recommendation, Tatsumi is welcomed by her withered twin grandmother and her elder brother Hisami, who is plagued by tuberculosis.
A room full of people gathered around his dying brother, watching him almost cough out his lungs, but no one reached out to save him. All Tatsumi saw was dead silence and indifference. The relatives of this house are the aging and dry monkey-like grandmother Kotake and Komei, the sister Haruo who divorced and returned to her mother's house, Shintaro, the fallen military officer cousin, and Hisami's family doctor, Kuno, and Miyako's deceased husband is Dr. Kuno's younger brother.
The scene between the brothers was only staged for a moment, and Kumi suddenly coughed violently, and finally spat out a mouthful of blood, and the eldest man of the Tianzhi family, who no one cared about, died lying in the blood. The death knell strikes again.
Tatsumi's return, as written in the threatening letter, was accompanied by the blood of his loved ones. During the funeral procession, Tatsumi was hated by the villagers. A somewhat insane nun in rags even rushed to his side and drove him away as if he were a demon. And this tragedy, which seems to be a sacrifice to the gods, is not over.
After the ritual of The Great Time, one sacrifice after another was taken care of by the gods. Two monks, Komei Kotake, two nuns, two doctors, Haruyo and Miyako, Kumi and Shintaro. Characters appear in pairs in the village, choose one of the two, are seemingly randomly chosen, and killed.
Just as everyone was increasingly convinced that this was the curse of the samurai of the Eight Tombs Village, Kaneda finally discovered that someone was hiding behind the curse and killing people. Is it a curse or a human heart that is terrible?
"Eight Tombs Village" is not a highly rated one in Kaneda's series of works, although Fuji TV invited Inagaki Goro and Fujiwara Ryu also had such a luxurious lineup, and Fujiwara's acting skills that were not yet Night God Moon were indeed slightly exaggerated. Transgressive perverts, neuroticism, and sadomasochism make the case seem dramatic.
Although the story has been reduced to this point, I would like to talk about the sadomasochism that ultimately caused this tragedy (to avoid too many spoilers, it is not specifically recorded in the text). This sadistic relationship is also one of the reasons why the story seems pompous. Although the author's ideas are exaggerated, such feelings are universal in life.
Why it is widespread, people do not realize it, I think it is probably because many people do not take this problem seriously. That is, in a love, we often think that we are kidnapping each other for your own good, that is, the motherly love that has been hotly discussed recently.
Why is there such a thing as motherly love? This is the thirty-year-old scumbag Xu Huanshan's showdown with Gu Jia and the words of throwing the pot. This passage spoken after being caught in adultery can only be seen as a kind of sophistry. But if this is a paragraph spoken in a normal state of life, I think it is also a heartfelt statement.
Wholehearted sacrifice, dedication, even without the ego, only us, how sacred such love is! Why is such love criticized?
To say ruthless, people have to go through a lot of confusion, helplessness, grievances, in order to really understand love.
To love is first to love oneself. Admittedly, many would say that love without sacrifice is not real. But did I really change from me to us, and the person who loved me at that time would not be disappointed?
And, without total love, you give attention and pressure while giving. And the other party really needs such a thing. Our blind spot is that we often use our own measures to restrain others and love others. Such love is not sacred, and can even be said to be selfish.
When you put yourself in your mother's place, there's no denying that you're not condescending. Always unable to believe that he (she) can do a good job, always feel that he (her) savior, the lover is always in need of protection, need to take care of, touch his (her) hand and finally tighten tighter and tighter.
Such love is suffocating.
The love in the story, both parties do not really understand each other's needs, only work hard in the way they feel good for each other, and finally do not get closer and closer, but lead to tragedy. Masashi Yokomizu speaks of love in a ukiyo-e way, brutal love, twisted love, gorgeous but nihilistic love.
Finding a way that is comfortable with each other may be the solution for a long time. Why be a mother at a young age?
