Zhou Chuanji is known as a titan in China's film industry, a member of the Chinese Filmmakers Association, a director of the China Film Music Society, a director of the China Film Editing Society, and a member of the China Film Critics Society. During his tenure, he served as a professor at the Beijing Film Academy and concurrently served as a professor at the Beijing Broadcasting Institute, the North China Radio and Television Cadre Management College, the Jilin Academy of Arts, and the teachers of the famous directors Zhang Yimou and Chen Kaige.

In addition to his broad vision and professional academic achievements, Zhou Chuanji's life is also a life of daring to tell the truth. He once commented that the student Zhang Yimou "may not be suitable for being a director, but it may be more suitable to be a photographer", and that Chen Kaige "does not watch any of his films after "Farewell to the Overlord". Born in Beijing on March 12, 1925, Zhou Chuanji graduated from the Department of Foreign Literature of the College of Letters of Shandong University in 1950 with a bachelor's degree in English literature. He is a senior Chinese filmmaker and professor, who has successively been a jury member of the Wuxi International Tourism Film Festival and the Hawaii International Film Festival, taught a public film course for the University of San Francisco in 1995, and won the first "Golden Candle Award" of the Beijing Film Academy. He has published academic works such as "Sound in Film, Television and Radio", "Sound in the Temporal and Spatial Structure of Film", "On Film Editing", etc., and published "Master of Film Language" in the special issue of the Hawaii International Film Festival in 1995. His translations also include the script of Citizen Kane, the play of "StreetCar desire", as well as "Great Art for Children", "Theory of Film Practice", "Grammar of Film Language" and so on.
