Scottish Cosmic Reflection Garden
Designer: Charles Jenks
Lives in: Dumfries, Scotland, Uk
Design time: 1990
The garden was designed to be inspired by science and mathematics, and the builders made full use of the terrain to represent these themes such as black holes, fractals, etc. It gives a very fantastic feeling. No matter which corner, which theme, it represents people's different thinking. Every inch of land here reflects unusual wisdom.
The large steps of "love live" as "water of life" are very unique
Consisting of 26 sets of horizontal or intersecting staircases, each paved with cobblestones in a different pattern, marking an important shift in the history of the universe. The staircase eventually returns to the surface of the black water. Mr. Jenks believes it alludes to the origin of the universe.
Once a swamp, Jenks revamped the terrain and drew living water from a nearby river, creating a good landscape environment and improving the feng shui of the land.
Grass-covered spiral hills and inverted twisted mounds form the tone of the garden's vision, with the water curving with the terrain to form two half-moon ponds that together resemble a butterfly.
Birth and death
The green lattice and the white lattice are orderly intermingled, and the size of the lattice becomes larger with the stretch of the terrain, and converges into a double helix at the beginning of life as the terrain contracts, reflecting the transformation of birth and end.
Mountain
The small twisting hills here are also known as the Tower of the Gods, and you can overlook the 120-meter-long, 10-meter-high double-helix hill covered by grass on a 16-meter-high hill.
The passage to the hill is designed, and if you want to go up, you must first go down. Mr. Jenks, the builder of the garden, believes that this winding, winding road reflects the intermittent nature of energy.
lakes
The shores of the lake are treated in an arc shape with a high curved aesthetic that once again highlights the garden's scientific, mathematically inspired themes. In the lake stands small islands of different heights, like small mountain cones, and the small islands have spiraling paths, perhaps this is a copy of the black hole in the universe, representing the formation of the universe.
building
In the garden, there are sculptures of different sizes, interpreting the secrets of life and the universe with the body of steel.
In one area of the garden sits a small red bridge known as "Heaven-Hell", which is designed to show the interrelationship between life and life, good and evil.
A series of small gardens are also planned in the garden, some of which were completed by Jenks alone in 1995. These gardens have reverie inscriptions, such as the "Dry Cascade" next to the house, the unrealized "Maze Brain" of white pebbles and green grass, and the fenced tennis court known as the "Garden of Fair Play".
This is the Scottish Cosmic Reflection Garden, which has been ranked as the first of the top ten most stunning gardens in the world, and the designers use another logic to build the most amazing world-class garden. Especially in the use of curves and the originality of wave landscape art, it is amazing to marvel at the elegance of garden landscaping art.
Meet Charles Jenks
Jenks is known for his architectural writings on postmodern theory. He has authored numerous books and papers to critique and explore the subject, including The Language of Postmodern Architecture (1977), Landmark Buildings (2005), and Critical Modernism: Where Will Postmodernism Go? 》(2007)。
After many accomplishments in his career, Jenks co-founded the Cancer Care Center named after his late wife, Maggie. According to the wife, a well-designed environment can significantly improve the treatment outcome of terminally ill patients.
