The Thames Stranded Juveniles were euthanized

Xinhua News Agency Due to the deterioration of physical condition, a juvenile whale stranded in the River Thames in the United Kingdom was euthanized on the 10th.

According to Reuters, the minke whale ran aground for the second time near a section of the River Thames near a section of the embankment of the River London on the morning of the 10th. Julia Cable, national coordinator of the British Diver Marine Life Rescue Association, said it was physically injured, in poor nutritional condition and "ran out of energy". Rescuers therefore injected it with an overdose of anesthetic and euthanized it to "relieve its pain."

The juvenile whale had previously run aground near a sluice gate in the upper reaches of the Thames, and had just escaped after 4 hours of efforts by rescuers. Rescuers worry that even with a second rescue, the juvenile whale could run aground again.

Cable said the minke whale was about 4.5 meters long, proving that it was still a juvenile whale, dependent on its mother for survival, and therefore could not be easily released into the sea.
