On the morning of the 26th, in the final of the men's S15 level 50m freestyle, Chen Guodong beat other runners with a good time of 24.67 seconds and won the gold medal, which was also the first gold medal won by the Shandong team at the Paralympic Games.
Chen Guodong was born in 1998 and unfortunately suffered from congenital deafness just after birth. When he was 6 years old, by chance, Chen Guodong met Xia Shufang. Xia Shufang is the coach of the Shandong Provincial Paralympic Swimming Team and an associate professor at the School of Physical Education of Shandong Normal University. Mentioning her beloved apprentice Chen Guodong, her eyes were full of pride. "The first time I saw him, I thought he was a gifted kid and immediately decided to keep him. Guo Dong is a very interesting and very good child, smart and clever, and trained hard. In this way, Chen Guodong began to learn to swim systematically.
Under the leadership of Xia Shufang, Chen Guodong's achievements have improved by leaps and bounds, and he has participated in national competitions many times. Among them, in the 2017 World Deaf Games, in the 50-meter freestyle event, Chen Guodong ranked 5th. "At that time, the top 8 athletes were all European athletes, only Chen Guodong was an Asian player, his performance was very good, it can be said that his short distance freestyle is one of the best in China." Peng Huidi, a 15-year-old youngster who won the second gold medal for Shandong, won the women's S15 level 200m backstroke final with a time of 2:23.65, breaking the national record.
Like Chen Guodong, Peng Huidi is also a good seedling recognized by Xia Shufang at a glance. At the age of 5, Peng Huidi began to learn to swim with Xia Shufang. Xia Shufang said that in the first class at that time, Peng Huidi was not afraid of water, but was very happy in the water. "This girl loves to swim, and I wanted to take her with me."
At the age of 10, Peng Huidi went to participate in the national competition, in the 2016 National Deaf Games, she won 2 gold and 2 silver good results, 2017 World Deaf Games, 800 meters freestyle event, Peng Huidi's ranking is the third place.
Whether it's windy or raining, Peng Huidi never misses training, and even so, her culture class has not fallen. This year, Peng Huidi was admitted to Jinan University Town Experimental Senior High School and is about to start her own high school life.
