Wenzhou News On August 28, the "Crazy Strange and Strange Yi - Special Exhibition to Commemorate the 270th Anniversary of Zeng Yandong's Birth" was launched at the Wenzhou Yanyuan Art Museum, exhibiting more than 60 works by Zeng Yandong, a Qing Dynasty calligrapher and painter who had an indissoluble relationship with Wenzhou. The exhibition will run until 27 October.
Zeng Yandong, born in 1751, Shandong Jiaxiang people, character Qingzhan, number seven Taoists and so on. In the twentieth year of Jiaqing (1815), during his tenure in Badongzhi County, he offended Han Wei, the governor of Hubei, because of his strengths, he was wrongfully accused of corruption, and was dismissed from his post and sent to Wenzhou. Since then, it has formed an indissoluble relationship with Wenzhou. Zeng Yandong is good at calligraphy, seal engraving, painting, pen and ink wild, and wins with strangeness. Many people such as Wu Changshuo, Feng Zikai, Zhang Daqian, Cheng Shifa, etc. have high praise for him. His artistic achievement is to organically integrate the traditional Chinese poetry, calligraphy and painting, reflect the scenes of life in the Qing Dynasty society from many aspects, and are full of philosophy and drama, and at the same time, he has written "Little Bean Shed", "Illustration of Ancient Artifacts of Wucheng" and "Dumb Collection".
A total of 60 works such as Zeng Yandong vertical shafts, lenses, fans, seals, and ancient books were exhibited in this exhibition. Both his paintings, calligraphy and poems reveal a strange beauty, daring to break through barriers, dare to innovate, reflect the voice of working people, and contain elements of progress. In particular, his paintings have a simple and freehand painting style, in the character painting, can be described as the pioneer of Chinese modern comics, in the flowers, birds, vegetables and fruits, his large brushstrokes, is the precursor of the modern Jinshi School.
According to reports, due to geographical limitations, Zeng Yandong's position in The history of Chinese art is not in line with his amazing artistic achievements, and the exhibition aims to let the public have a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of this forgotten generation of art masters, and to return his due position in history to make up for the lack of Chinese calligraphy and painting literature. The exhibition is sponsored by wenzhou municipal literary association and propaganda department of Wenzhou lucheng district party committee of the Communist Party of China, organized by lucheng district literary association, Wenzhou Yanyuan art museum, Hua Yazhai, lucheng district art association and chunlan caotang co-organized.
