Meiko: If you still have the opportunity to participate in the Asian Games, you have to do your best to achieve the best results

The LPL transfer period of the "breath-holding competition" has entered the end, many teams have officially announced the big list for next year's new season, and S11 global finals champion EDG currently only supervises "ShiYi Tang" Zhu Kai to join RNG, and the main lineup has not changed. Recently, Sina News interviewed EDG Captain Meiko and asked him to chat with fans about his experience of winning the S11 championship.

Meiko: If you still have the opportunity to participate in the Asian Games, you have to do your best to achieve the best results

Q: This year is Meiko's 7th year at EDG, you won the LPL and MSI Mid-Season Championships in your first year of joining, until this year finally realized your dream S Competition, what kind of beliefs supported you to achieve your dreams step by step? Especially when you are 1-2 behind in the S11 final, how do you communicate with your teammates as captain?

Meiko: I started playing professionally, and although I won the MSI and LPL championships, my goal has always been to win the global finals, so my goal has not been completed. Second, I think that for how much I love this game, I still like to play this game very much, so I continue to insist on it until now.

I think as a captain, your own responsibility is to inspire the team, including helping everyone adjust their mindset. In the case of falling behind in the game, we also feel that we will help them to become more calm and complete the goals in the game.

Q: S11's successful victory is inseparable from the excellent chemistry between several players, but also inseparable from the escort of the club, so can you please describe how you can enhance your tacit understanding with other players with the club, at work and in life, especially in the case of cultural differences with the two Korean foreign players?

Meiko: I think the tacit understanding of this thing is actually that everyone's personality is more compatible, and after practicing for a long time, everyone's trust in each other will increase. I think that the longer everyone plays, the better the cooperation between themselves and their teammates will get better and better, and they will slowly feel that the teamwork is getting better and better, so they will play better.

I think in fact, the two Korean players in our team, their personalities are more cheerful, people are better, so it is more convenient to communicate, their own learning ability is also relatively strong, so in fact, there is no great difficulty.

Meiko: If you still have the opportunity to participate in the Asian Games, you have to do your best to achieve the best results

Q: I heard that e-sports has a short lifespan, what will you do after you retire? Do you have a plan yourself?

Meiko: Actually, now the (esports) industry is becoming more and more professional, with a professional medical team, in fact, we are now e-sports players with a longer and longer professional lifespan.

I myself was still in the year of the fight, so I didn't think about a lot of future planning.

Q: You are also gradually being labeled as an "idol", do you feel that you are an idol? Will there be "idol self-realization" in the future?

Meiko: I don't think it's an idol, but there are still a lot of young people or teenagers who like us, or they are similar to fans, so I think we still have to bring some positive energy to everyone and establish our own image.

Meiko: If you still have the opportunity to participate in the Asian Games, you have to do your best to achieve the best results

Q: Why do you think e-sports will be selected for next year's Hangzhou Asian Games?

Meiko: I think people might think that esports is playing games, but it actually requires a lot of physical and mental strength, and some teamwork, so it becomes an official sporting event. At the same time, there are still many people who love e-sports, and I think it is because everyone's acceptance and attention are getting higher and higher, so it is still very lucky to be selected for the Asian Games, and I am very grateful.

Q: You have already participated in the Asian Games once, and after achieving your personal Grand Slam, it is possible to continue to participate in the Hangzhou Asian Games next year, will there be any difference in mentality this time?

Meiko: Last time I was selected for the Asian Games [in Jakarta] and won the gold medal with everyone else. If I still have the opportunity to participate in the Asian Games next year, I think I will still do my best to play my best!
