In response to the fact that "the Nanjiang River in Guangdong is covered by a large amount of foam", on December 14, the Yunfu Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment issued a statement in response, saying that the water surface foam in the sluice section of the Foziba Hydropower Station in Nanjianghekou Town was generated by the impact of the upstream river water on the riverbed stone, and the monitoring results did not see obvious abnormalities.

On December 12, a video of the scene showed that the surface of the Nanjiang River was covered with a large amount of white foam, and there were also yellow-brown foam floating and gathering.

According to the instructions issued by the Yunfu Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, after investigation, the situation reflected by the masses is true, the location of the white foam is located in the sluice section of the Foziba Hydropower Station in Nanjianghekou Town, and the river water from upstream flows through the gate of the Foziba Hydropower Station and then impacts the riverbed stone to produce a large amount of white foam, and then the white foam drifts to the downstream estuary bridge section.

According to the note, on December 12, Yunfu City sampled and monitored the water quality of many sections of the main tributaries of the Shuangdong to estuary section of the Nanjiang River, and the monitoring results showed that there were no obvious abnormalities in the factor data. At the same time, according to the situation of the automatic water quality monitoring stations of Nanjiang River Dawan and Nanjiangkou, the water quality monitoring indicators of the two sections have remained stable in recent days, and there has been no abnormal change.

The above note said that in the next step, Yunfu City will continue to organize special teams to strengthen the monitoring of the water quality of the Nanjiang River, further investigate and analyze, find out the causes, and take targeted measures to eliminate the phenomenon of white foam.
