In the second year of Qianfu (875), he joined the peasant rebel army led by Wang Xianzhi and Huang Chao, and successively attacked Luoyang, Chang'an and other places, which greatly shook the ruling position of the Tang Dynasty. In the second year of Zhonghe (882), he attached himself to the Tang army Wang Chongrong and Yang Fuguang, and jointly suppressed the Huang Chao army with Li Keyong and others. Later, because Zhu Wen's adopted son Zhu Youwen's wife Wang Shi was the best looking, he served Zhu Wen the most thoughtfully. Therefore, Zhu Wen decided to pass the throne to his adopted son Zhu Youwen. This incident eventually caused zhu Wen's second son Zhu Youjue to be dissatisfied, so he launched a palace coup and killed his father Zhu Wen.
