On the second day of the 2021 lunar calendar, the snow fluttering in the morning covered the streets with a thin white veil. This snow came and went quickly, and in the blink of an eye, the snow stopped and the clouds dispersed and the sun was shining!

On a whim, I told my friends to go and came to Cockatoo Island, west of Montreal.

Cockatoo Island, (French pronunciation: [il pɛʁo]) is an island west of Montreal Island in Quebec, Canada, part of the Hochelaga Archipelago, located between Lake St. Louis and Twin Hills Lakes. On October 28, 1672, the Governor of New France granted the island to François-Marie Perrot. The island was named after its owner's surname, Perrot. The Chinese, according to Perrot's meaning, called it Cockatoo Island.

Cockatoo Island is divided into north and south sections by Highway 20, which crosses it. To the north, north of Route 20, it faces Twin Hills Lake. Several narrow, simple roads dot the woods. The house also appears to be older. The area by the lake is also very natural...

Look out over Pointe-Claire across the twin-mountain lakes.

The area to the north is not large. Soon we were turning around and headed south...

Cross Route 20 all the way south. The north and south of a highway are very different. In the south there are commercial districts, wide and smooth roads, apartment buildings that cannot be seen in the north, and buses.

See the Cathedral on mont-royal hill, 35 km away, on the other side of the St. Lawrence River.

This year's weather was exceptionally warm. In previous years, the geese and wild ducks, who had already gone south at this time, were still playing leisurely on the river in groups.

The Church of Notre-Dame, located on the slopes of the adjacent watery hill, is clean and gorgeous.

At the foot of the church there is a cemetery, and the back of the mountain is clean and peaceful.

Keep going down and it's a park.

The wide St. Lawrence River

The island is not very large, and it is only an hour to drive around the island along the water's edge.

Because I did not prepare in advance, I missed the punch card attraction "Big Mill". I'll make it up next time.

We'll come back when the spring is in full bloom!
