Sichuan's Jiuding Mountain found "six different", and the mother beast pulled out the snow and let the cubs lick the salt on the stones

author:Natural geography of Snow Spirit Valley

Sichuan Jiuding Mountain, named because there are 9 peaks connected, the highest peak is called Lion King Peak, about 5000 meters above sea level. Jiuding Mountain is located in the transition zone from the Sichuan Basin to the Northwest Plateau, with majestic mountains, lush forests and vast grasslands, making it an ideal home for wild animals.

In the past, due to rampant poaching, the number of animals on Jiuding Mountain was drastically reduced, and it was difficult to find them. Later, under the protection of people, the wildlife population gradually recovered.

In recent years, all kinds of wild and rare animals have appeared in people's field of vision, giant pandas are comfortably feeding in the bamboo forest, twisting horned antelope is full of mountains looking for salt to eat, horses and musks look east and west when drinking water, honey dogs dare to attack hairy-crowned deer, green-tailed rainbow pheasants dig soil with bird beaks...

In the forests and meadows of Nine Peaks Mountain, you can often see the horned antelope, and these guys always wander in groups in the mountains, slowly eating leaves.

The twisted horned antelope is a genus of animals of the family Bovine-sheep subfamily Antelope, named the twisted horned antelope because of the twisted shape of the head. And because it looks strange, the head is like a horse, the horns are like a deer, the nose is like a sheep, the back is like a bear, the hooves are like an ox, and the tail is like a donkey, but it doesn't look like anything, so everyone likes to call it "six different".

When winter comes, the snow covers the ground and also covers the low plants, making foraging difficult.

A group of "six unlikes" slowly walked through the mountain, the strong horned antelope in front of them, the underage cubs following closely behind, but soon attracted by the surrounding environment, looking east and west, and curiously stretching their necks to reach the branches.

After walking a few kilometers, I came to a mountain forest, and scattered in pairs. Adult horned antelopes use their hooves to pry open the snow, find large stones buried under the snow, and lick the salt on the stones.

The female beast with the cubs also pulled away the snow, but instead of licking the food, she called on the cubs who were playing on the side, and asked the cubs to lick the stones and eat the salt on them.

Young horned antelopes are usually encouraged to fight and frolic, perhaps to exercise their bodies. When they have eaten enough salt, the adult horned antelope also fights in the snow. A twisted horned antelope topped its companion with its horns, and did not expect to be ridden by its companion.

In the lush bushes, a male musk suddenly jumped out, looked left and right vigilantly, and then jumped down the hill lightly, came to a water source, drank water with his head down, took a sip and looked around, took another sip, and then looked again...

The musk, like the frightened elves in the mountains, has large, long ears, swirling hairs on the back of its neck, and weighs about 15 kilograms.

In terms of appearance, both males and females are similar, but the males' upper canine teeth are more developed, sticking out of the mouth, like crescents. Females have shorter teeth that do not expose the outside of their mouths.

The biggest difference is that females have no glands, and males have oval musk glandular sacs on their abdomens that secrete musk. Musk secretions are characteristic of males, who mark territory with musk. Females find mates and reproduce offspring by the smell of musk left by males on stumps and rocks.

The musk is a very clean animal and will excrete in a fixed place. Monitors have also observed that different musks, excreted in the same place, do not exclude the use of the same "toilet" as their peers.

Although the male musk has fangs, it has no combat effectiveness, and when it encounters a ferocious predator, it can only flee quickly. Even if the other party is a honey dog smaller than himself, there is no way to cope. Stay vigilant and run fast to survive.

One of the natural enemies of the musk is the honey dog, named because it likes to eat honey, weighing only about 3 kilograms, like a small fox, but the fame is very large.

Honey dogs, also known as yellow-throated martens and shrews, dare to attack animals that are more than ten times larger than themselves, or even dozens of times, which can be described as "great achievements"!

The honey dog has attacked the national treasure giant panda, causing the belly of the family to rupture; the honey dog has joined forces with his companions to besiege the small chamois; and the adult hairy deer that has fallen into the water has not spared, and the claws press on each other and directly seal the throat. You know, the hairy-crowned deer weighs about 30 kilograms, which is 10 times larger than the honey dog!

In addition, a variety of animals, such as musk, small wild boar, macaque, and red-bellied horned pheasant, are on the hunting list of honey dogs. When hunting, honey dogs will make full use of their petite body shape and unexpectedly deal with prey, both to hunt hairy-crowned deer that is 10 times larger than themselves, and to drill rat holes to catch rats.

The honey dog is agile and fierce, but it is very interesting when it comes to getting along with its companions. Two honey dogs ran through the snow one after the other, each occupying a place and dancing.

Because of its flexible body and jumping ability, the honey dog's "dance" is quite wonderful, and it also holds the small trunk while jumping and rubbing.

In fact, the honey dog is marking the territory, using the glands in the abdomen to apply its own scent to the trees and the ground.

In a lush bamboo forest, the "national treasure" giant panda appeared, only to see it walk with its head held high, face the tender bamboo leaves without any heartbeat, walk to a large tree, stand upside down on the tree, rub the trunk satisfactorily, and smear the tree with perianal gland secretions.

After marking the territory, I played under the tree, stood upright, and almost rubbed my body over and over again. After you have done the work of marking the territory, you can go to the bamboo forest and enjoy the delicious food with peace of mind.

When it is not the estrus period, other giant pandas smell the scent of the same kind and will walk away, not "invading" this territory.

During the breeding season, giant pandas leave their own scents in order to attract males. They first convey information with smells and then communicate through sound.

Fat pandas, whether they are eating, playing, or sleeping, are particularly cute! Especially when the mother and son of the giant panda get along, the cub is like a little bit, following behind the giant panda, and likes to roll on the ground, naughty and cute.

The mist in the mountains is thick, and the green-tailed rainbow pheasant comes out to forage for food, and specially selects places deep in the mountains and dense forests. The green-tailed rainbow pheasant uses its strong bird's beak to dig through the ground and look for a favorite plant to eat, the bulb of the shellfish.

The green-tailed rainbow pheasant is like a moving rainbow in the mountains, and its colorful feathers shine with the metallic luster of red copper, copper and green copper, which looks noble and mysterious.

The green-tailed rainbow pheasant is the "giant panda" among birds, and there are several interesting nicknames! Because it likes to eat the bulbs of the mother of the shellfish, it is called "shell hen"; because it has a curved hook-like beak, like the mouth of an eagle, it is called "eagle chicken"; and because it feeds in the snow, the colorful feathers make it like a ball of burning charcoal, so it is called "fire charcoal chicken".

Beauty is always easy to attract attention and attract predators, so the green-tailed rainbow pheasant has learned to use the thick fog, rain, sleet and other weather to cover itself, making it difficult for birds of prey and carnivores to find it.

If the weather is good, go out to forage at dawn and dusk, and you can also use the terrain and dense woods to hide your tracks.

The green-tailed rainbow pheasant always walks around the steep mountains and even on the edge of the cliff, even if it is found by predators, it can jump off the cliff and spread its wings to escape.

The beautiful Nine Peaks Mountain, there are more rare wild animals, sichuan golden snub-nosed monkeys jumping up and down, agile and agile forest musk, cute black bears...
