Yesterday, I watched the 2005 Korean movie "Welcome to Dongmo Village".

Talking about "Welcome to Dongmo Village": Building Emotional Bridges

This prestigious film tells a fairytale war story -

In the mountains of northeastern South Korea near the 38th Parallel, there is a small village like a paradise, Dongmo Village. The villagers there live in isolation and know nothing about the Korean War, which is in full swing.

Second Lieutenant Om Hyun Chul (Shin Ha-kyun) and hygienist Moon Sang-sang (Seo Jae-kyung) of the South Korean Army arrive at Dongmo Village due to their escape from camp and their fall behind. At the same time, Korean People's Army captain Ri So-hwa (Jeong Jae-yong) and soldiers Jang Young-hee and Seo Taek-ki also entered Dongmo Village on the way to retreat. Prior to this, because of the plane crash, The US pilot, Captain Smith (Stephen Tayshuller), had been recuperating in the village.

When soldiers from both Koreas suddenly found each other, they were full of hostility and swords, and then gradually calmed down. In the days that followed, in contact with the simple villagers, the soldiers got used to the peaceful life of Dongmo Village and established friendship.

Soon, a group of Korean paratroopers entered Dongmo Village and did nothing wrong. After they joined forces to eliminate these paratroopers, they found that the US military mistakenly believed that Dongmo Village had a people's army anti-aircraft artillery position, and was ready to completely destroy Dongmo Village through air raids.

In order to defend their beloved village of Dongmo, the Garden of Eden, five Inter-Korean soldiers decided to join forces to establish a false position on the us air force's route to induce the U.S. military to bomb.

The end result was that Dongmo Village was saved, but five Rok and Korean People's Army soldiers were all killed in the bombing.

This movie was made very beautifully.

Director Lin Guangxian is from the filming of advertisements, and some shots are very creative, such as the second lieutenant of the table mistakenly thought that a grenade was a rotten egg, and threw it out casually, and as a result, it exploded in the farmer's granary, and the corn that was blown up became popcorn flying in the sky.

The music of the film was composed by Japanese musician Hisaishi Jean, and the soundtrack "Let the Bullets Fly" directed by Jiang Wen, "The Sun Also Rises", is also from his handwriting.

"Welcome to Dongmo Village" has a clear anti-war theme, the director uses the peace and tranquility of Dongmo Village to highlight the absurdity and meaninglessness of the war, but this accusation does not touch on the social and historical roots of why the war occurred, but only appeals to abstract human nature, so although it is very sensational, it is also very powerless.

Over the years, South Korea has made many films set in the north-south split, such as "Common Garrison Area", "Mogadishu", "Agent", "Iron Rain", "Life and Death Spy", and so on.

The common feature of these films is the desire to find common ground among the "ordinary people" of the North and the South, and to seek to build mutual understanding, trust and friendship. Its effect is that in the case of temporary political reconciliation between the North and the South, emotional reconciliation is first achieved to make emotional preparations for future reunification.

In recent years, North Korean films have been seen very little, and it is unknown whether the North Korean side has made films with similar themes since the new century.

In 1974, north Korea's 28 film Studio filmed a film "The Fate of Kim Ji and Yin Ji", which tells the tragic fate of a pair of twin sisters divided on both sides of the 38th line, and the interlude "Father's Blessing" is extremely graceful and gentle, tear-jerking, and the response in China is second only to "The Flower Girl".

At the time of the filming, North Korea was still better off than South Korea in all aspects. On the one hand, the film complains about the pain caused by the separation of the North and the South to the Korean people, and on the other hand, it also expresses a strong attempt to achieve reunification "with me as the mainstay".

Because of the Taiwan issue, China has not yet achieved complete reunification. The state of division between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait has also caused great pain to the Chinese people, but this is rarely shown on the screen, and it seems that there is only one "Ballad of Yunshui" filmed in 2006.

Frankly speaking, whether compared with Korean movies or North Korean movies, "The Ballad of Yunshui" still has a gap, giving people the feeling that there is only Xianglin's sister-in-law's grievances.

China will be reunified. Can political unity be emotionally unified now until political unity is fully realized?

There is still a lot to be done in the Chinese film industry.
