Self-Improvement》》

Awarded "Self-Improvement Star of Chinese College Students"

He will soon become the first blind graduate student at Fudan University

From the moment she fell to the ground, Zhu Lingjun's life was destined to be "different". She was born blind and couldn't see anything; an operation at 4 months helped her regain a sense of light and blurred shadows, but her movement and learning were still limited.

From elementary school to high school, Zhu Lingjun studied at the Shanghai Blind School. During his studies at the blind school, Zhu Lingjun served as the propaganda director of the student union, presided over the work of radio stations and television stations, and won the honorary title of "Three Good Students" many times.

She has a wide range of interests and enjoys singing, erhu, recitation and swimming. She has represented Shanghai Blind School in Beijing for many times to participate in various competitions, and won the first prize of the first National Blind School English Speech Competition, the gold medal of folk music (erhu) in the Shanghai Student Art Single Competition, and the special prize of the first "Charming Chinese" Recitation Competition in Shanghai.

She loves sports and practices hard, and has won gold medals in the breaststroke and backstroke of the Wuxi Disabled Swimming Competition for many times.

In July 2018, she was admitted to the Sociology Major of the School of Social Development of East China Normal University with honors. From a blind school to an ordinary school, it is not a small challenge for Zhu Lingjun. But difficulties can't beat hard people. The university does not have special Braille textbooks, Braille books and Braille materials, and Zhu Lingjun cannot see the teacher's PPT, board books, etc. To this end, the teachers and students of the School of Social Development especially scanned the key chapters and important knowledge points in the textbook into e-books, converted them into editable texts, and after errata and proofreading, let Zhu Lingjun use the screen reading software to listen repeatedly until digestion and absorption.

Zhu Lingjun was awarded the "National Inspirational Scholarship" for three consecutive years, and was awarded the "Self-Improvement Star of Chinese College Students" by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the All-China Federation of Students, and in September 2019, after being selected by the school, Zhu Lingjun went to the Hong Kong Polytechnic University for exchange and study. According to the requirements, she was required to take three courses in English; however, Zhu Lingjun took the initiative to take two additional courses and completed the course with a good score of 3.4/4. This year, Zhu Lingjun, a senior in college, is interning at Microsoft, and she was sent to Fudan University, where she is about to become the first blind graduate student at Fudan University.

Talking about the Future》

Let yourself be the light of others

I look forward to becoming an advocate and practitioner of disability integration

"I thought I had lost my light and couldn't see a whole world. However, I am increasingly discovering that I can be the light of others on my own. Zhu Lingjun told the Yangtze Evening News/Purple Cow News reporter that any obstacles and difficulties did not stop him from moving forward.

I've been drenched in rain myself, and I want to hold an umbrella for others. While Zhu Lingjun struggled on her own, she also used her own strength to give back to the society. Undergraduate social work majors are based on this consideration.

In her junior year, Zhu Lingjun overcame her visual impairment and spent two and a half hours each time, relying on walking 2 kilometers or transferring three buses to travel independently, and won the opportunity to intern at Fudan Pediatric Hospital and the Medical Social Work Department of Shanghai Jingwei Center. During the epidemic period, she took the initiative to sign up as a community volunteer, serving as a "cloud learning companion" for a child with intellectual disabilities, insisting on 21 days of online tutoring and remote companionship, and illuminating the path of her peers with her own shimmer. During the winter vacation of 2020, Zhu Lingjun returned to the Shanghai School for The Blind, where she once attended, to share her learning experience and life skills during college with her students. She also went to Meicun Erhu Industrial Park, visited the Erhu Instrument Factory, wrote a research report on "Native China - Exploration of Wuxi Erhu Production Process", and promoted traditional ethnic music to the public in the Wuxi Municipal Library for the Blind.

"There are about 17.31 million visually impaired people in China, of which 23.5% are young people under the age of 30. I want to do public welfare undertakings related to the visually impaired, so that I can become a light to the blind spot; I also want to become a 'cane' for the visually impaired, so that they can better integrate into society and show themselves. "For the future, Zhu Lingjun has some ideas, she looks forward to becoming an advocate and practitioner of disability integration, and she hopes that visually impaired people can also use mobile phones and computers like ordinary people." Now some websites do not take into account the needs of visually impaired groups when designing, such as graphical verification codes when logging in, etc., hoping to find some like-minded partners to form a team in the future to promote scientific and technological barrier-free work, help visually impaired people better integrate into society, and let ordinary people know more about the lives and dreams of visually impaired people. ”
