On December 1, the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Jiangsu Province announced a new list of provincial-level traditional villages, and a total of 75 villages in the province were included in the list. There are 3 selected villages in our city, namely the ten groups of Hewan Village in Guangyanghu Town, Baoying County, the third group of Gezhuang Village in Guangyanghu Town, Baoying County, and the Songjiazhuang in Xinlong Village, Wujian Town, Jiangdu District.
According to the relevant requirements of the Measures for the Protection of Traditional Villages in Jiangsu Province, on the basis of the recommendation and reporting of various localities and the review of relevant provincial departments, combined with the on-site field investigation of third-party institutions, the review is carried out from the aspects of traditional village heritage protection, style and characteristic shaping, traditional culture inheritance, and human settlement environment quality, and finally the list of traditional villages in Jiangsu Province is formed. In April 2020, the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Jiangsu Province and other departments released the first batch of 107 provincial traditional village lists, released the second batch of lists in October, released the third batch of lists in December, and then released the fourth batch of lists, the first four batches of the province selected a total of 364 traditional villages in Jiangsu Province, of which yangzhou was rated as a total of 61 traditional villages, ranking first in the province.
Traditional villages maintain historical memory and strong nostalgia, and are an important carrier of traditional Chinese civilization and a cultural fulcrum for rural revitalization. Traditional villages were formed earlier, have rich culture and natural resources, have certain historical, cultural, scientific, artistic, economic and social values, contain rich historical information and cultural landscapes, and are valuable heritage left by China's agricultural civilization. In 2017, Jiangsu took the lead in promulgating and implementing the "Measures for the Protection of Traditional Villages in Jiangsu Province", and our city has also increased its construction efforts in the city, and after several years of careful cultivation, it has formed a number of traditional villages with rich traditional resources, continuous improvement of the living environment, and relatively complete infrastructure and public service facilities. While protecting traditional villages, the city also fully considers the needs of long-term development of rural areas and the growing production and living needs of villagers, puts forward the principle of protection and development of "protection priority, taking into account development, rational utilization, and living inheritance", promotes the development and revitalization of traditional villages under the premise of protection, pays attention to the "revitalization and utilization" of various types of relics, encourages the rational development of tourism, leisure vacations, traditional handicrafts and traditional skills processing and production activities in traditional villages, and promotes the synchronous development of traditional villages and local economy and society.
The reporter learned that since last year, the city has comprehensively launched the "six hard battles" of beautiful and livable city construction, vigorously carried out the "three major actions" of beautiful pastoral village construction, built 121 new beautiful and livable villages last year alone, won 19 provincial name characteristic pastoral villages, 43 provincial traditional villages, and completed the rectification of 77 dismantled township market towns in the city, and steadily promoted the construction of 5 pilot new rural communities in 3 townships. Nowadays, the countryside of Yangzhou is becoming more and more beautiful and more charming.
Hewan Village, GuangyangHu Town, Baoying County, is located in the northwest of the town, because the river channel and lake are shaped like crane necks, so it is named Crane Bay. The village is known as the "hometown of electric heaters". From the 1970s onwards, the village's skilled craftsmen began to set up an electric heating and electrical appliance factory, becoming a five-point factory of electric heating and electrical appliances in Shanghai, and by 1989 there were 12 electric heater production enterprises, with more than 20 varieties of electric heaters, which were sold to 22 provinces and cities. In recent years, Hewan Village has increased the construction of village infrastructure, and built a new home care service center, a cultural activity center, a cultural square, and a resident fitness square. In 2019, it was created into a beautiful and livable village at the municipal level.
Gezhuang Village, Guangyanghu Town, Baoying County, is the hometown of Zhuangyuan, bordering Yanqiao Village to the west and Hewan Village to the north. In March 2000, the original Gezhuang Village and Shuanglou Village were merged into Gezhuang Village, of which Shuanglou Village was called "Zhuangyuan Village" because of the only Zhuangyuan Wangshidan in Baoying history, and because Wang Shidan was the oldest (59 years old) in the Qing Dynasty, everyone called him "Baitou Zhuangyuan". Nowadays, there is a Zhuangyuan Bridge in Gezhuang Village, and a new Zhuangyuan Cultural Square covering an area of 3,000 square meters has been built. The village has been rated as Yangzhou Civilized Village, Baoying County Civilized Village and so on.
Located in the southeast of the town, Xinlong Village, Wujian Town, Jiangdu District, has two natural villages, Songjiazhuang and ChenLingou, with a history of more than 400 years, and the two natural villages are named after the Song surname and Chen surname, which have developed and evolved over hundreds of years. There is a large river in the east of Songzhuang, the river surface is wide, the area is more than 1,000 acres, and the Hanoi is overgrown with reeds and weeds. Songjiazhuang has a Xinglong Temple, built in the early years of the Republic of China, in 1948 as a rear hospital of the New Fourth Army, and opened a school in the early 1950s. Xinlong Village has successively won the honorary titles of Jiangsu Provincial Democratic Rule of Law Demonstration Village, Jiangsu Provincial Sanitary Village, Yangzhou Beautiful Countryside, Yangzhou Environmental Improvement Demonstration Village and so on.
