Under the background of "double carbon", how to develop shared motorcycles in the green transportation industry?

Beijing News Shell Financial News (reporter Chen Weicheng) On the occasion of the tenth "National Traffic Safety Day", on December 2, the "double carbon" background green transportation industry development seminar jointly sponsored by the Shared Travel Branch of the China Transport Association and The Pinecone Think Tank was held, and the guests discussed the construction of "transportation power", the development of the shared motorcycle industry, and the safety and security of motorcycles.

At the opening ceremony of the Second United Nations Global Sustainable Transport Conference, national leaders mentioned in their speeches that it is necessary to accelerate the formation of green and low-carbon transportation modes, strengthen the construction of green infrastructure, promote new energy, intelligent, digital and lightweight transportation equipment, encourage and guide green travel, and make transportation more environmentally friendly and travel more low-carbon.

The mention of "lightweight transportation equipment" has made motorcycles attract attention again. China's social ownership of electric bicycles will reach 300 million in 2020. From the perspective of private ownership, statistics show that the average number of electric bicycles per 100 households in urban residents is 57.5, and the average number of electric bicycles per 100 households in rural households is 74.8.

Xu Baoli, former second-level inspector of the Department of Transport Services of the Ministry of Transport, said, "With the economic and social development of our country and the improvement of people's living standards, electric bicycles have become an important means of transportation for the people, especially the residents of large counties, with their economic and convenient characteristics. ”

In fact, with the strengthening of the trend of electrification, intelligence, networking and sharing in the automobile industry, the intelligent upgrading of products in the motorcycle industry is also accelerating. Didi, Meituan, Hello, Songguo and other travel platforms have also launched a large number of smart shared motorcycles on the road.

With the goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality", green travel is imperative. The data shows that carbon emissions in the transportation sector account for about 15% of China's total terminal carbon emissions. Wang Shuang, a researcher at the Scientific Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport, pointed out that "shared motorcycles cover two sectors: low-carbon vehicles and low-carbon travel, which is in line with the future development trend." ”

Since 2018, the market penetration of shared motorcycles in large counties has continued to increase. The "2021 China Large County Shared Motorcycle Traffic Safety Report" released at the seminar pointed out that as of October 2021, 49.2% of the counties in large counties have shared motorcycle operations. It is estimated that by the end of 2021, the total number of shared motorcycle operations will exceed 10 million.

"In the past two years, under the influence of multiple factors such as the epidemic, some relatively deep changes have taken place in the field of short-distance transportation around the world." Zhai Guanglong, vice president of the Shared Travel Branch of the China Transport Association and founder and CEO of Songguo Travel, pointed out that electric bicycles have become the first choice for many people to travel with their non-contact and open space characteristics, and in the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States and other countries, the sales of electric bicycles in the past two years have shown explosive growth.

The development of shared motorcycles began to transition from barbaric expansion to orderly operation. In the past two years, with the introduction of the new national standard for electric bicycles, Kunming, Hefei, Xiamen and other cities have incorporated shared motorcycles into unified supervision, and Zhejiang and other provinces have formulated provincial-level shared motorcycle management regulations.

Gai Chunying, deputy director of the Transportation Planning Institute of the Beijing Urban Planning and Design Institute, suggested that companies should work with government departments to study "what role shared motorcycles play in the urban integrated transportation system." Xu Baoli stressed, "To support the stable development of the shared motorcycle market, safety is always the top priority. ”

Xu Dingming, former counselor of the State Council and former director of the National Energy Administration, said that the better development of shared motorcycles needs to consider five major issues, including connecting with the national transportation plan, connecting with the development trend of the city, combining the characteristics of the county economy, adapting to the lifestyle of residents, and the process of double carbon realization.
