The Tao Te Ching: The Four Virtues of Man

author:Li Tan Tao Te Ching

Lesson 54: No Martial Arts

Those who are good at soldiers are not armed, those who are good at fighting are not angry, those who are good at defeating the enemy are not with him, and those who are good at using people are subordinate. It is said to be an indisputable virtue, it is to use human strength, and it is to match the heavens and the ancients.

The Tao Te Ching: The Four Virtues of Man

"Those who are good at being soldiers are not martial", and those who are good at being soldiers are not martial. Shangwu is a martial art that advocates killing. The higher the martial arts, the more people will be killed on the battlefield. Not being martial is the best, the most capable of being a soldier.

"Those who are good at fighting are not angry", and those who are good at fighting do not kill indiscriminately. Two armies are at war, and the enemy must kill you before you can kill him. If he backs down or surrenders, he can't kill him anymore. The army that does not kill indiscriminately is the division of benevolence and righteousness, conforms to the road and the people's hearts, and can naturally win the final victory. During the Korean War, volunteer soldiers who were captured were not only not mistreated, but were free to roam in the camps, and a sports event was held. Some prisoners of war were reluctant to return home after the war.

"Those who are good at defeating the enemy do not cooperate", and those who are good at defeating the enemy do not give a frontal conflict. Generals who are good at fighting will avoid the enemy's sharp edges, specialize in the weak parts of the enemy, and surprise the victory. Chairman Mao summed up the sixteen-character guerrilla tactics, "The enemy advances and we retreat, the enemy garrisons us to disturb, the enemy wears us out, and the enemy retreats and we pursue" are the concrete manifestations of this sentence. In the end, the Communist army won the final victory of the war with a weak victory over the strong.

"Those who are good at using people are subordinate", and those who are good at using people will be subordinate. When the leaders have to deal with each other and mingle with their subordinates and the masses, they can accomplish great things. If you are not close to the people below, you will not understand their strengths and weaknesses, preferences and dislikes, and when you are a leader, you will not know how to assign work to the right people, you will not know what the people will want, and you will not be able to gain the trust of the people. Therefore, leaders who are good at employing people often learn about the situation among the masses.

The Tao Te Ching: Those who are good are not martial

Those who are good at being soldiers are not martial: those who are good at being soldiers are not martial. Originally, to be a soldier is to fight a war, to kill people, if you advocate the martial art of killing, strong martial arts, good force, kill more people. Just like Hitler, who launched the Second World War and brought great disaster to the people of the world, this is against the will of the majority of the people, it is contrary.

Lesson Fifty-two says, "Use it as a last resort." "The army only uses it when it is unavoidable, there are contradictions between countries, mainly by means of peaceful negotiations, it is really impossible to negotiate, and it is used only when it is a last resort."

Soldiers who are not martial artists do not kill indiscriminately, only those who should be killed are killed, they do not kill innocents indiscriminately, and they talk about martial virtue, such soldiers are the best and the most capable of being soldiers. The army that does not kill indiscriminately is the division of benevolence and righteousness, and the division of benevolence and righteousness can be invincible, win the hearts and minds of the people, and win the final victory in the war.

Quiet and unhurried

Tao Te Ching: The good do not argue

It is said that the virtue of indisputable, this is called the virtue of indisputable, so that those who are good at being soldiers are not armed, those who are good at fighting are not angry, those who are good at defeating the enemy are not with each other, and those who are good at using people for the sake of inferiority show that there is indisputable virtue, and they have several common characteristics, that is, they do not fight with people, that is to say, the real strong will not fight with people, because they subdue people with virtue.

And those who like to fight just show that they are weak and unkind, and they have not reached that level to fight, so they lack the virtue of indisputable, so it is said that the purpose of this topic is to be martial or not to be armed? Fight or not? Wu is the manifestation of the weak, and not wu is the strong.
