A government minister said police reinforcements arrived in martinique in the French Caribbean region on Tuesday to restore order amid riots triggered by coronavirus measures, particularly the mandatory vaccination of health care workers.

France's 24-hour website reports that there have been several days of protests against COVID-19 measures in Martinique and nearby Guadeloupe, which have turned violent.
Sebastien Lecornu, France's Minister of Overseas Territories, said 70 gendarmes arrived earlier in the day, in addition to two squadrons deployed unannounced from mainland France, to help clear the roadblocks.
