Eel is one of the native products of Fuqing, Fujian Province, which has been extensively cultivated since the Ming Dynasty.
As early as 1988, the annual output of Fuqing roasted eel reached nearly 1,000 tons.
As the starting point of China's grilled eel export, Fuqing's eels have long "swum" to the world's table.
The eel industry was once known as the "soft gold" industry, and a group of hard-working Fuqing people dug up barrels of gold on the eels.
