Riots broke out in the Solomon Islands because someone undermined the government's establishment of diplomatic relations with China, and the Chinese side spoke out

On the 24th local time, a large-scale riot occurred in the Solomon Islands. In the evening, thousands of thugs gathered in the capital, Honiara, to try to break into the National Assembly building and set fire to the police station. Although the country's Prime Minister Sogavare ordered a curfew in the capital, the local Chinatown was still attacked on the 25th, resulting in a number of Chinese shops being set on fire by mobs.

According to the Observer Network, Sogavare accused external forces of interfering in the country's internal affairs on the 26th because the country made the decision to "sever diplomatic relations" with Taiwan and establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China, which annoyed some external forces. Sogavare also said he knew who the outside forces were but "didn't want to name names."

The Solomon Islands, an island nation located in the South Pacific region, was originally one of Taiwan's so-called "countries with diplomatic relations." In April 2019, Prime Minister Sogavare's coalition of political parties won a majority in the country's parliament, and Sogavare was subsequently elected Prime Minister of solomon Islands and formed a cabinet to govern. In the same year, the Solomon Islands announced a "severance of diplomatic relations" with Taiwan and the establishment of formal diplomatic relations with Chinese mainland.

As the great power game between China and the United States becomes increasingly fierce, the Taiwan issue has become a trump card for the United States to provoke Chinese mainland, and everything related to Taiwan may be regarded by the United States as a trump card against Chinese mainland. Therefore, the Solomon Islands, which have just established diplomatic relations with China, have naturally become the target of key retaliation by the United States.

Immediately after the massive unrest in the Solomon Islands against local Chinese, Australia announced the dispatch of police and troops to the country to assist the Sogavare government in "maintaining order." Although Australian Foreign Minister Payne claimed that "Canberra does not take a stand in this riot", even the US media understand what is going on: Australia is afraid that China will send troops to help restore order to the authorities.

Australia's superficial attitude does not conceal its interference in the internal affairs of the South Pacific island. Because the US "New York Times" recently told the big truth, saying that the United States had previously provided a lot of assistance to the "pro-Taiwan" forces in the Solomon Islands, and they were the culprits of the riots. The Associated Press said Australia would not help protect the presidential palace and the Parliament building.

As a vassal of the United States, Australia immediately sent security forces into the Solomon Islands, apparently at the behest of the United States, and the attempt of the United States and Australia to jointly interfere in the internal affairs of the country has been clearly revealed. However, no matter what the United States and Australia do, it is unlikely that the United States and Australia will use this to pressure the Sogavare government to re-establish so-called "diplomatic relations" with Taiwan.

The reason is very simple, in response to the Solomon Islands riots, Rogavare is not alone in the fight, after the large-scale riots in the country, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman asked the authorities to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and institutions, but also pointed out: China attaches great importance to the current developments in the Solomon Islands, supports all the efforts of the government to stop the riots, and believes that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sogavare, the government can restore social order and stability as soon as possible.

After the Chinese side issued diplomatic solidarity, Sogavare then made a statement, and while not naming and accusing some external forces of interfering in the internal affairs of the country and creating riots, he also made a statement in front of some Western media: "Our decision to abandon the dark and throw in the light in diplomacy is absolutely correct and legal, and we are putting the Solomon Islands on the right side of history."

Since the Sogavare government has made the right decision, it must have a good chance of dealing with this riot of internal and external collusion. What's more, the main target of this riot is the local Chinese citizens, so the Chinese side is unlikely to sit idly by. Although China may not send troops to intervene at every turn, as the Western powers do, it is almost certain that China's way of assisting Sogavare in dealing with external interference is by no means limited to diplomatic support.

For solomon islands, the West's empty promises, along with the so-called "shared values" that cannot be eaten, are not the right choice for the country to prosper. In contrast, since the establishment of diplomatic relations with China more than two years ago, the cooperation between the two countries in trade, economy, infrastructure construction, education and health has achieved fruitful results.

This is the best support provided by China for Sogavare to stabilize the domestic situation. After all, as long as the people of the country live well, external forces naturally have no opportunity to interfere in the internal affairs of the country. The country's media said that in the face of facts, any attempt to undermine the normal development of relations is futile.
