Messi scored his first Ligue 1 goal: I'm so happy, we ended up winning

The Argentine scored for the first time in the French top flight in the sixth time he asked as his side extended their unbeaten run to five.

Lionel Messi said he was delighted to score his first Ligue 1 goal with Paris Saint-Germain beating Nantes 3-1 on Saturday.

The Argentine star caught a pass from Killian Mbappe on the edge of the penalty area and sent the ball into the net in the 87th minute as Paris Saint-Germain's unbeaten run in the league extended to five.

Messi, 34, has now scored four goals for the French giants and has scored four times in the Champions League since his move from Barcelona.

But the six-time Ballon d'Or winner is delighted to have had success at home, having made a blank in his first five games in Ligue 1.

"I'm happy. We had a lot of chances but their goalkeeper made some good saves. But we weren't afraid, we ended up winning," Messi told Amazon Prime.

"I was delighted to score my first goal in front of the fans at the Parc des Princes.

'Even if I've scored in the Champions League, I want to score in the league.

What did Pochettino say?

PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino was delighted to see his compatriot score, but despite seeing goalkeeper Keller Navas sent off halfway through the second half, he wanted his side to win with a bigger margin.

"Yes, it's very important. We should have scored more goals. But this kind of game is always open and anything can happen," the coach said.

"The team showed their character again [after Navas was sent off], which is great. Time is important for the connection between the players and the beginning to feel comfortable on the pitch. ”

Pochettino added that he was unsure whether Sergio Ramos would be able to play in next week's Champions League match against Manchester City.

"I don't know. His progress is very important. It's one thing to be in training, it's another thing to be competitive," he said.

"He was in a good mood. Please don't over-interpret it, though. We can't push him too hard, we have to do it little by little. ”
