On the morning of November 18, the mass production ceremony of Corning's pharmaceutical glass Bengbu factory and the Corning Velocity China conference were held in our city. Huang Xiaowu, secretary of the municipal party committee, attended and delivered a speech. Municipal leaders Cao Longcan, Xu Guangyou, and Gao Shang, Wu Daojun, Secretary General of the Municipal Government, Li Fang, President and General Manager of Corning International Group, Li Xiangrong, Vice President of China Biotechnology Co., Ltd., and Lin Chunmei, General Manager of Corning Life Sciences Group Greater China, attended the meeting.
Corning Pharmaceutical Glass Co., Ltd. is jointly invested and constructed by Corning Corporation and China Biologics and Bengbu High-tech Investment Group Co., Ltd., using Corning's world-leading technology to produce pharmaceutical borosilicate glass, providing the industry with higher chemical stability and safety of pharmaceutical glass packaging materials. The new factory started construction last year, put into operation in September this year, after mass production, Corning's annual production capacity of high-quality glass tubes will increase by 20,000 tons, which can meet the growing demand for cost-effective and high-quality I-type borosilicate glass tubes in China, help improve the industrial chain of silicon-based new materials in Bengbu City, fill the gap in the medicinal glass industry in Bengbu City, and further strengthen the development of the silicon-based industry in Bengbu City and even Anhui Province.
In his speech, Huang Xiaowu expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the mass production of Corning's pharmaceutical glass Bengbu Factory and extended a warm welcome to the glass industry entrepreneurs who came to the ceremony. He said that Corning is the global leading innovator in materials science, China Biotechnology Co., Ltd. is a strong force in the central enterprises, the two sides cooperate to invest in the construction of a medicinal glass factory in Bengbu, from the signing of the contract to mass production in a short period of time, creating the "Bengbu Speed" of Corning's pharmaceutical glass project construction, fully reflecting the close cooperation between the three parties, highlighting the determination to jointly protect the lives and health of the people of the world. Bengbu silicon-based new material industry has a strong foundation, many research and development platforms, has the only national manufacturing innovation center in the field of new glass materials, and is the source of innovation for the development of the glass industry. In recent years, the city has focused on building a world-class silicon-based manufacturing center, strengthened scientific and technological research and development, and introduced a number of high-quality enterprises and projects, especially Corning and China Biotechnology Co., Ltd. to build factories in Bengbu, injecting new kinetic energy into the construction of "City of Innovation, Capital of Materials, Manufacturing Highland, and Happy Bengbu". It is hoped that the three parties will further deepen cooperation, accelerate the construction of follow-up projects, and further plan more high-quality projects to land in Bengmu. At the ceremony, Cai Hong, executive vice president of China Pharmaceutical Packaging Association, and leaders of Corning Group headquarters delivered video speeches respectively, optimistic about the investment environment and the development prospects of the glass industry in Bengbu. Li Xiangrong said at the ceremony that China Biologics has carried out in-depth cooperation with Bengbu City and Corning to jointly promote the upgrading of vaccine packaging materials and biopharmaceutical packaging materials, which is conducive to promoting the development of China's pharmaceutical industry supply chain. Lin Chunmei said that Bengbu City has an excellent business environment and strong support for enterprises, and will carry out more in-depth cooperation with Bengbu to jointly achieve new and greater development.
After the ceremony, attendees toured the production line and learned about Corning Velocity, Corning's new product. Manufactured using Corning's latest injectable bottle technology, the product increases filling line productivity by 20 to 50 percent while reducing packaging production costs and the probability of product breakage.
