Not many people in the readership know Zhang Xianghua, and she jokingly calls Mr. "Tiger" at home. If you pull the tiger skin as a banner and show off her husband Junbai Yang (1919-2008), probably no one knows. I compare it this way, and it seems unfair to Zhang Xianghua, who is a poet with considerable popularity. She has published several collections of works such as "Sleepless Green Grass", "Selected Poems of Zhang Xianghua" and "Autumn Water Without Dust", some of which have been translated into multiple languages and published in the United States, Britain, South Korea, South Korea and other countries, enjoying the reputation of "International Poet Laureate". I first read his article "Look, This Ugly Chinese", and then I knew him later. Even after I had compiled a collection of essays for the two of them, I didn't know much about her. At the end of 1998, Zhang Xianghua was invited by CCTV to Beijing to do her special program on reading, and we began to have a relationship with each other, a long conversation, and we knew her people and their affairs.
Zhang Xianghua was born in Hong Kong, longyan, Fujian Province. He lost his mother at an early age and then moved to Taipei with his father. She has lived in the shadow of her stepmother since she was a child, there is no flower season, the mother's love is sealed in the lock of her memory, and the suffering and bitterness brew her soft and inner character.
Our topic begins with poetry. After graduating from university, he taught at Apricot Tan. In her spare time, she immersed herself in the world of poetry and music. But life wasn't all poetry for her: she had a bloody and tearful childhood spent in the voice of her stepmother, and she had a failed marriage. For the sake of self-esteem, for the sake of independent personality, this weak woman with traditional Chinese virtues resolutely broke with the false marriage, even though she was already a mother of 3 children at the time.
Fate likes to patronize the brave, and she comes to run in the year of confusion, lyrically writing the second movement of the journey of life, and the main theme of the second movement is of course Bai Yang.

Their combination is "karma" in Buddhist terms, and Zhang Xianghua feels that it is more appropriate to use "delusion". They have all lost their mother's love since childhood, suffered from their step-mothers, have had unhappy marriages, and they are all kind and righteous cultural people. Fate threw them into a boat, and they gladly crossed the boat together. Zhang Xianghua tearfully wrote in the poem "One-way Ticket to Bai Yang": "We are all abnormal people who are on the road / miserable", not only in this life and this life " we are both destined to watch / The ascension of the North Star / In the vast dawn of fate", but also "If you can book a seat for the next life / Please book two one-way tickets." ”
Bai Yang has played a variety of roles on the stage of life: in addition to the title of writer, he wandered in his early years, passed through business, and sold pit wood for mining in the northeast; After arriving in Taiwan, he made a living as a writer and did publishing business. He has also worked as a teacher in primary, secondary and primary schools. Before going to prison, he taught at a university.
Since 1968, Bai Yang in Taiwan has been imprisoned for 9 years and 26 days. After being released from prison, he found that he had nothing but the prison uniform he was wearing, number 297. Bai Yang became a tramp, and he was placed by his friends in a modified scrap car, which was later jokingly called "Bai Yang's Former Residence". Eat, use, and flower all the help of friends. Just when the mountain was exhausted, Zhang Xianghua walked to his side.
By pure chance, at a gathering of Professor Shi Zichen of the Cultural University, they met. When Bai Yang heard the name Zhang Xianghua, he froze. When he was imprisoned a few years ago, he read a poem called "Autumn Ziwei" in the supplement of a newspaper, and he was deeply impressed by his sentence that "you can hear the sound of underground seeds sprouting". He believed that the author could not have written such verses without a certain frequency in his mind. This author is Zhang Xianghua. Zhang Xianghua, as early as a middle school teacher to teach students articles, introduced Bai Yang. Zhang Xianghua recalled that before knowing Bai Yang, when he heard his name, he was a little frightened, and always thought that he was a figure who swallowed steel and wielded a sword and a spear to sweep Liuhe. But when I met at the banquet, I thought he was gentle and polite, witty and humorous. Although the cigarettes in his hands burned one after another, vaguely revealing the anxiety in his heart, it generally gave people an impression of politeness. The next day, as soon as Zhang Xianghua entered the office, he received a letter from Bai Yang. There were only a few words on the letter, but she was very touched. She politely called him, which opened the curtain on their friendship.
Later, one evening in the twilight of winter, when they sat opposite each other in the coffee room, when Bai Yang gently said that everyone needed a home, Zhang Xianghua was extremely nervous, and she worried about whether their love was deep enough. She snorted and said, "I don't know what I can give you, you just came out of prison, you can't take any more blows..." Bai Yang reacted very quickly, he said: "I am never afraid of any blows!" This sonorous sentence alone made Zhang Xianghua's heart flutter. In this instant, she made the decision: marry him!
When the news of their preparation for marriage broke, the agents went to the Jianguo Middle School where Xianghua was teaching, and used a momentum that was only unknown to the world to investigate Zhang Xianghua's "loyalty materials." The behavior of the agents aroused Zhang Xianghua's anger and challenge, and she publicly and frankly said that she "fully accepts a political prisoner who is 'old', 'ugly', 'poor' and has absolutely no future."
On February 4, 1978, the year after Bo Yang was released from prison, they walked hand in hand to the other end of the red carpet.
Someone asserted: their marriage would not last more than 3 years. History is the most powerful witness, they spent a full 30 spring and autumn together, and it is "one stop to the end". To this end, Bai Yang wrote affectionately: "Xianghua is a wise woman, and I have the honor of marrying her, which is the grace that God summed up my life and gave me." Zhang Xianghua, in her "One-way Ticket - to Bai Yang", said more frankly and firmly: to the high place of the blue sky / to the nether of The Yellow Spring / Please don't leave me out.

After marriage, Zhang Xianghua resigned from his teaching post and accompanied Bai Yang wholeheartedly, serving as his secretary, driver and foreign affairs officer. After a period of time, Bai Yang could not bear to keep Xianghua in his cage like a golden bird, and Zhang Xianghua also realized that life was short and could not be immersed in the world of two people for a long time. Zhang Xianghua is determined to find herself again and show the value of her life to the society.
On the one hand, she works the manuscript paper, and also works as the host of the radio program Whispers of Poetry; on the other hand, she is committed to international cultural exchanges. For nearly 20 years, she has traveled to and from Eastern European countries, especially Yugoslavia and Romania, once a year. Participate in international writers' conferences, organize two-way art exhibitions, publish books, and exchange films. The Serbian edition of Selected Contemporary Chinese Poems, including works by Chinese from mainland China and overseas, was published in Yugoslavia; the poetry collections of Yugoslav writers were translated into Chinese published in Beijing and Taipei... What is even more valuable is that all this, she did not apply for official funding, all of which was done at her own expense.
Many units at home and abroad invited Bai Yang to give a speech, and Bai Yang often described a vivid theme extremely lengthy. "Sometimes, when I'm offstage, I can't wait to jump up and talk to him!" Once in Taipei's Golden Stone Hall, he made a mistake, and the enthusiastic audience kept raising their hands to ask questions. That day, Zhang Xianghua couldn't help but raise her hand, and the accompanying friend was surprised that she could ask questions. Zhang Xianghua said, "I told him to come down early." Zhang Xianghua said she would try to avoid his speech, and she did not go to the University of Iowa to give a lecture on "The Ugly Chinese". Usually at home, they don't call each other by each other's names. Xianghua jokingly called Bai Yang a "tiger". Bai Yang nicknamed Xianghua "Cat". In their two-person world, Bai Yang is sometimes more cat than cat. Once Zhang Xianghua did not know why he "murdered" Bai Yang for a while, turned around and forgot early, but saw Bai Yang sitting stupidly in the study. Zhang Xianghua asked him what was wrong.
